Pat Buchanan Smacks Down Bill Press: 'You’ve Got to Get Beyond Being a Fringe Talk Show Host'
News Busters ^ | 15 Jan 2011 | Noel Sheppard

During an impromptu reunion of CNN's "Crossfire" Friday, Pat Buchanan told his old sparring partner Bill Press, "You’ve got to get beyond being a fringe talk show host."

In the middle of a very heated debate on MSNBC's "The Ed Show," Buchanan strongly cautioned the host and his liberal guest, "I think this last week, there’s been a climate of hatred built up against [Sarah Palin] who did nothing and I tell you, if she does run for president of the United States, I pray to the lord she’s given secret service protection from day one" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

This morning I was thinking, Do leftists listen to talk radio? Do leftists and liberals actually listen to Glenn Beck or talk radio? Do they listen to Sarah Palin or what the tea partiers have to say? Most likely not. And who is the most aggressively angry group in the country today that has a tendency toward violence? Hmmm, who, who, who? Oh, yeah, the left, as usual, think 1960’s early 1970’s, just more of the same today. And why is the left so angry today? Could it be that they are angry because they listen to all the Distortions that the msm media tells about the right and what those on the right such as Glenn, talk radio show hosts, Sarah, and the tea partiers say. The msm totally distorts what is said for their own ill gain and flames the ire of those who only listen to the msm. As a matter of fact, I feel angry when I listen to the msm, and not because I believe what they say. I feel angry when I listen to the msm because I know what they say about those on the right is more often not just distortions of the truth, but lies. Maybe we should ban the msm, ha ha, no there’s that constitution, which we on the right believe in, so that is out of the question. So now my question is how does the right break the left out of it’s delusional state? Fortunately their are smarter people then me leading the charge and perhaps one day more and more of the left will wake up and understand what is true and real and what is just delusion and then with their eyes wide open they will become part of the right.

I saw this live, and it was good TV. Pat beat Press and Schultz hands down. Schultz knew it, but Press is so stupid I doubt if he understood what Pat did to him. Press has always been a whining brain-dead elitist sissy, but he has to be even stupider than I thought when a thug like Schultz realizes he's been verbally beaten while Press just keeps yammering the same talking points exactly like he always does. Press has never had an original thought in his life, and just reads the faxes he gets from the DNC.

You want to see hatred? Wait til Mrs. Palin officially announces she's running. The Secret Service and FBI will be going on 3 hours of sleep a night chasing down all the threats.

One of my great unfulfilled dreams is to smack the smirk off of Bill Press’s smarmy puss.

For me, electing Sarah Palin is my chosen form of revenge against those leftist idiots. Revenge will be sweet!

Oh they listen! They just don't hear anything they understand.

The ironic thing is that while the left hears and does not understand anything one man that cannot hear gets it all. The man behind the golden microphone. The Will Rogers of our time.

As I wrote after the November 2012 election: “There is one candidate in the GOP who has the resolve and political skill to take similar political and rhetorical hits, because she understands one thing: We have the numbers. The other side knows what she is doing and they know the threat she poses for them. Her strategy is not complicated. Our side has the numbers, but has heretofore lacked the will to mobilize them. The left and its Establishment allies are going to try to destroy her and to demoralize her supporters. This was exactly the strategy employed by Lee in 1864. But Grant was a bulldog who simply would not be deterred. I think Grant and Palin share a characteristic that is sadly absent in politicians today: Sherman referred to it as “four o’clock in the morning courage” meaning that you could wake Grant up at four o’clock in the morning with the news that the enemy had turned his right flank and he would be cool as a cucumber. The fearless Palin too “doesn’t scare worth a damn.”

For the next two years, Sarah Palin is going to relentlessly press Democrats and GOP in the Congress toward Conservative Constitutional governance. They are going to be dropping back, losing ground at every turn. And when they diverge from that path (and they will) they are going to feel the sting of her rhetorical, as well as her political, whip. She will be moving on Washington by the Right Flank. Relentlessly.

Governor Palin realizes that the job cannot be completed without the Presidency in 2012. She realizes as well that this is going to be a hard slog, not a walk in the park. I don’t think she is enamored of fame for its own sake and if there were someone else to do the job, she would be happy to yield the stage. But she knows as well that the current crop of McClellans in the GOP either will not, or cannot, restrain the federal leviathan and unleash the productive capacity of the American people. They are either too invested in the current system or too weakwilled or too politically ungifted to achieve it (and in some cases all three). She is the only politician on the scene with the political capacity, the understanding and the will to complete the reorientation of American political system from its current statist spiral toward proper constitutional interpretation and governance.

The Great Civil War Historian Shelby Foote said, referring to Grant and Lee: “Lee always understood the Union Generals. It is not that he didn’t understand Grant. It was that Grant knew how to whip him. And he did.”

The best concise analysis of Sarah's strategy that I've read; incisive, persuasive, and correct.

Every time they saw that Palin's going away now, they never seem to realize:

She's not retreating. She's reloading.

Civil war is coming.

It's already here, IMHO. The libs just haven't figured out we're not gonna take it anymore.

It will really kick into gear after redistricting when the Rats understand they lost a dozen Electoral votes and 20 House seats.

Excellent post #11.

I am convinced that God has his hand on her. Everytime they attack her she rises stronger. You’d think they’d learn.

Had they just left her alone she’d still be sitting in Juneau worrying about state budgets. They are going to chase her and attack her all the way into the White House.

I don’t know how this is all going to play out. But her courage and grace under fire impress me a great deal. Its more than courage, its grace under fire.

They throw everything they have at her and she just chuckles. And keeps coming.

I previously said that if W won reelection, i was going to go to D.C. for the second inauguration. (I was out of the country for the first one)

If Sarah wins, somehow I WILL be in D.C. (if she runs, of course).

Pat did well.

I have had some major disagreements with his commentary in the past, but he really got them going didn't he?

Did you notice Bill Press' reaction to being called a fringe talk show host? He went apoplectic with outrage, he could hardly talk he sputtered so much.

I'm not sure he understands the irony of his own temper tantrum. Here he gets one jab thrown at him, and he can't handle it at all without being outraged. I can't imagine what he would do if he was faced with the 24/7 drumbeat that Sarah put up with for five whole days before her very measured response.

Liberalism has truly become deranged.

Pat versus Bill isn’t really fair to Bill. We need to find somebody more his speed…like Trig Palin.

On second thought, no. He’s not smarter than the Little Dude, either.
