Rick Warren hosts 'cult' celebrity docs Features promoters of Eastern mysticism, universalism

When megachurch pastor Rick Warren decided he needed to take his health seriously, he responded in typically ambitious fashion, launching a year-long health program for his church, "The Daniel Plan," written with the help of three celebrity doctors who will appear at a kickoff seminar today.

But critics point out the physicians who crafted the program apparently don't share the church's professed evangelical beliefs, espousing instead various forms of Eastern mysticism and the tenets of a Christian cult, Swedenborgism.

Vowing to lose 90 pounds, Warren said he placed himself under the care of Drs. Mehmet Oz, Daniel Amen and Mark Hyman last fall and worked with each to develop "The Daniel Plan."

Oz, host of the Emmy-winning "Dr. Oz Show" and professor of surgery at Columbia University, says he is inspired by Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th century cult founder who taught that all religions lead to God and denied orthodox Christian beliefs such at the atonement of Christ for sin, the trinity and the deity of the Holy Spirit.

Best-selling author Amen, a professor of psychiatry at the University of California at Irvine, teaches Eastern religious meditation and the New Age energy-based practice of Reiki.

I suspect more people have atheist or agnostic doctors than anything.

I don’t ask.

If you research Warren your suspicions will be confirmed, he doesn’t pass the smell test. Also, why is a preacher a member of the Council on Foreign Relations? I’d rather have the enemy in front of me than behind me. This guy is rotten.

You Scored as Karl Barth

The daddy of 20th Century theology. You perceive liberal theology to be a disaster and so you insist that the revelation of Christ, not human experience, should be the starting point for all theology.

I didn’t see anything in the article about him promoting any other faiths, just a diet designed by doctors who happen to be of other faiths. Did I miss something? I don’t know if it’s medically sound or not, but if he is only promoting the diet, what’s the problem?

I have a bad feeling that when this fellow gets “important” enough he may openly change religions, with the intention of taking his followers and readers with him.He may have been planning this all along. His gullible followers need to be warned. We may be talking another cult on the scale of scientology.

Steve McConkey, who directs a website called Christian Investigator, called it "troubling for a top pastor in the United States to promote false teachers."

When defending a biblical worldview in the marketplace of ideas,Christians, and especially Christian pastors, must present the truth in order to set free those who have been captured by deceptive philosophies such as New Age cosmic humanism and eastern panteistic monism.

But Jewish people do share our faith whereas the Buddha, Shinto, Wicca etc. etc. do not.

As a matter of fact Christians and Jew don't share the same faith, they share the same values. But Jews don't believe Jesus was the Son of God, that he died for our sins, that salvation comes from faith not good works, or that only believers are saved. They do believe that even nonbeilievers will be allowed in heaven if they are righteous. That's far more like Swedenborgianism and other Universalists than traditional Christian theology.

Not a big deal, you can learn from a dog if you are paying attention.

For instance, Dogs don't poop where they eat.

I tend to google all the religious characters that get larger than life and dig around. I like to check out their foundations and see if they’re solid. Sadly, there is a lot of rotten apples floating at the top. I even believe a guy I defended for many years is rotten but I’ll let that go for the time being.

I suppose these charlatans and apostates are a sign of the times and prophesy being realized but it angers me when I think about it. The greatest enemy appears to have breached the perimeter by invitation.

Stop right there. I understand where you are coming from but are you then saying that the OLD AND THE NEW TESTAMENT ARE NOT BOUND TOGETHER IN THE SAME BIBLE? (now I know that is not what you are saying but most of you misunderstand what I am saying) Excuse me also for thinking that Jesus WAS A JEW.

Warren’s P.E.A.C.E. Plan & UN Goals - Part 1

The Emerging Global ‘Church’

What’s more, today’s soft, social “gospel” conforms easily to UNESCO’s guidelines for religion in the new world order. Remember Pastor Warren’s words, “The first [Reformation] was about beliefs. This one will be about deeds.”[11]

from Warrens own mouth

Years ago, I bought and started to read “Purpose Driven Life”.....I got part way through it and put it away.....why do we need books like his when we have the Bible?

Matthew 7:15 comes to mind when I think of Rick and his peers.....

I am amazed at the number of “Christians” that think he is wonderful......
