I’m watching Fox now and I didn’t understand it that way; he’s asked his goverment officials to step down, but he’ll remain.
If this is true, I would hope that there would be free and fair elections in Egypt and that the UN and the US would ensure that those kind of elections take place without violence or interference.

Are you sure? Wasn’t it just his cabinet that he’s asking to step down? Isn’t he still trying to hang on himself? (However unlikely he is to be successful.)

I think the report was that he is asking members in the government to step down so he can appoint new ones. He’s not going anywhere.
