On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Geithner will have dinner at Treasury with former secretaries of the Treasury.
What's up with this? There was no indication on the weekly Treasury schedule, put out just a day ago, that this dinner was planned. Very unusual.
On top of that, the Treasury put this notice out at 9:00PM on a Saturday night. Sure looks like a rushed meeting to me.
O.K. then; so what does this mean? Should I go out today and spend all my dollars real quick to get rid of them?

On a serious note, the Stock Market is going to take an ‘87 type plunge tomorrow. Probably asking for a little help.
Geithner is a moron.
He and the fed are doing nothing to stop the national debt crisis, the exploding federal deficit and budget, rampant inflation and the devaluation of the American dollar.
What info do you have re: the market tomorrow?

What it means is this: He’s looking for a new job, and is trying to get his resume out.
Perhaps nothing and probably nothing.
Or perhaps the debt limit has been reached or will be reached this week and Geithner is looking for ideas on how to keep spending going until they can beg Congress to raise the limit.
Or there’s another big bank failure in the works and they’re working on the bailout details to present to Congress.
If your throwing bags of money around I will take one please.

I suspect that the meeting is to discuss the impact of the Middle East events on the stock market.
I suspect Monday will be an exciting day for traders.
Well, I can’t afford gold, but stuff to use and barter, I can do that. As to being happy, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is totally out of my control, so all I can do is prepare as best I can, and hope I can cope. I may not be happy, but I am less angry and stressed.
