The judge who ruled the Obama administration's health care overhaul unconstitutional questioned whether the government was reaching beyond its power by requiring citizens to buy health insurance because everyone needs medical care.
Under that logic, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson said, the government could force Americans to buy clothes or food. Vinson, who sided with 26 states fighting the much-maligned measure, revealed his own health care story during arguments several weeks ago, an example that helped shed light on his ruling Monday.

Yet again our corrupt biased media does the dirty work for this admin and their messiah.
The good judge was a Naval Aviator, USNA Class of 1962.
GO NAVY!
and about all they can accuse him of is liking camellias
It's the CHICAGO way!
Did I miss something in this story? He paid cash for his wife giving birth? That’s “His own Med Story”? Really?
Personalize. Freeze. Demonize.
Shout out to the State Run Media: No, not EVERYONE who rules against Communism is a bad guy.
I’m basking in the Era of Civility.
My reading of this story is that it is very FAVORABLE to the Judge. This isn’t a “hit piece” at all. He seems like a very good Judge, in control of things and yet fair to all. Also, he takes care of his own medical bills when they are due to be paid. Isn’t that a good thing?
What’s the big deal. We paid cash for all 3 of my kiddos birth.
Oh absolutely! My meaning was the headline makes it sound like he did something wrong. I applaud him for paying cash.
That's it. Since he was able to pay for his family's medical care, he can't relate to those who can't afford it.
A good judge and a man of honor. Too bad that he didn't get to hear and rule on any of Obama’s eligibility suits.
I wouldn’t even chalk this up to media ‘bias’ or even mendacity, but to reporter stupidity. The implication is that the reader is equally stupid. Unfortunately, in too many cases, that’s true.
Do the reporters really think a judge is going to rule on a constitutional issue because s/he has his/her own medical story? What person over 30 doesn’t have their own medical story? Sorry, sorry coverage.
See post #12. What you and I see as favorable is not the same thing the Left sees as favorable.
Are they kidding? There's some serious schizophrenia going on here. How can they make this argument and at the same time insist that insurance must cover pre-existing illnesses?
Yep, just another case of the media trying leading with a false headline. Good for the judge!!
Do you guys ever read the stories that you post? It’s not a hit piece. Very favorable to him.
As I said in post #12, he's being setup as someone who doesn't understand or care about the plight of those who can't pay for medical costs or medical insurance.
Do you ever read what's intended by a story rather than just the words on the page?
This is so not a hit piece. This is the quality of story I would hope that AP is always capable of.
