New names, he observes, keep popping up. One of those, of course, is former Florida governor Jeb Bush. Rich, Kathryn, and John have all written about Bush’s appeal in recent days. DeMint, in an interview with National Review Online, calls Bush “one of the best” possible presidential contenders. “Maybe the person we are looking for has not stepped out yet; it could be a Rick Perry or a Jeb Bush.” “[Bush] would be a really good president and a good candidate,” DeMint says. “He had a solid record as governor; he showed that he was willing to push innovative things in education and elsewhere.” DeMint says President Obama is “clearly beatable.” But the GOP nominee, he argues, will need to be formidable, since the president may be able to bounce off of a rebounding economy. Numerous potential candidates, he says, “are watching to see where Obama’s popularity will be. A lot is going to depend on whether people believe that he has anything to do with the economy coming back. And it will come back; you can’t keep the American economy down.” NRO wonders: In coming months, if Bush and other conservative favorites decide to sit out 2012, will DeMint feel compelled to jump in? “I really am trying to avoid that,” he tells us. “I’m looking for good candidates out there in the field.” “I would have to feel a strong pull from people all over the country,” DeMint says. “Again, it’s not something that, right now, appears to be in my future.” But could a grassroots ‘Draft DeMint’ movement stir him to run? “I don’t want to suggest that I’m waiting for any kind of draft,” he says. “It’s really not what I want to do. I really don’t have any intention of running. . . . I’m not ruling anything out, but it’s not something I want to do.”DeMint Surveys the Field, Praises Jeb
The up side of a Jeb candidacy (as oppposed to a dozen other RINOs I could name) is that when he loses to the Comrade that will be the end of the Bush family AND the Repuke party and good riddance to all of them.
Of course, we COULD just nominate Palin and WIN the presidency in 2012. But I guess that would be too easy.
So here’s looking toward a heated primary season with great minds like Romney, Jeb and Pawlenty slugging it out. It should make everyone long for the salad days of McCain or Dole or Ford.
(And after losing 40 states in 2012, the remnant and distant third party Repukos can nominate Lindsay Graham in 2016.)

If Palin wins the McCain states from 2008, plus the states that her endorsed candidates won in 2010, she wins in a landslide. Many of those states went Republican in the governorship, the state legislature, and House and Senate seats. Some turned completely RED (republican)
The vast majority of her endorsed candidates won, despite the media focus on a couple loses, and the beltway elites blaming her for losing the Senate (so bogus, as she was instrumental in the record victory in the house and governorships)
She and the Tea Party are the wild card. and the movement is just getting rolling.
Palin, Jeb, Mitt, Perry, Barbour, Huntsman, are all amnesty queens. Big time.

Just because someone is adept at picking and endorsing local candidates, doesn’t mean that their subsequent election was as the result of her endorsement. Perhaps Sarah is better served as being a new Rove...
And comparisons to Reagan are dangerous...they have the same ideals (which I like), but not the same pedigree.
Reagan was a national figure for almost two decades before he was elected...he served two terms as the Governor of the largest state in the Union. Successful terms too.
Sarah had promise, I hope she continues to fuel the fire of the Tea Party and Conservatism. But I am not as convinced as you that she is electable nationally.
Wasn’t Jeb part of that group who said the Era of Reagan is over. I think they help their meeting in some pizza joint.
Let’s see. Demint endorsed Romney in 2008 and, in a letter, praised his RomneyCare debacle which had just passed. Now he is praising Jeb Bush as a great candidate and hoping he or Rick Perry will run. He will only run if no one else is available. Sheesh. Is he for real?
This guy lacks the judgment to be President. And he lacks the guts. He has been cowed ever since taking a little heat after the 2010 elections over O’Donnell and Miller.
If he wants to run, Demint needs to ditch his cornpone Hamlet routine and come on in. Sarah Palin will beat him like a yard dog.
As of today: Demint has 597,000 google hits.
As of today, Sarah Palin has 56,200,000 google hits.
In other words, she leads him by about 100-1. He will need to come up with $4 or $5 billion in the next week to buy a sliver of the name recognition she commands.
The good news for Demint: He is much closer in facebook fans. Palin is only clobbering him there by a mere 22-1 (or 2,739,000 to 127,000).
Demint poses about as much of an electoral threat to Palin as Old Yeller would pose to an Abrams tank.
I wish. But I’ll settle for Cain, DeMint or Bachmann. Though I readily admit that DeMint has very poor taste when it comes to endorsements sometimes. Jeb? Perry? E-frickin-Gads.

Will was an early and ardent Reagan supporter, who wrote material for candidate Reagan while serving as a columnist.
I honestly don’t know. I don’t pay attention to Jeb as I really can’t stand him. I don’t know why but he irritates the c**p out of me.

Excluding amnesty (which I don’t), what are the major similarities between Jeb Bush and Obama.

Not any of those, IMO, has a chance of the nomination, let alone of beating Barry. (Yeah, I know, Sheriff Joe doesn’t have a prayer either.) 2012 is too important for a self-stroking vote, which will only assure a Romney win—and loss to Obama.
Sigh.
Jeb and Palin share the same position on illegal immigration...Hmmm.
