Israel Warns It Might Act on Iranian Warships Passing Through Suez Canal
Fox News ^

Israel is monitoring two Iranian warships about to pass through the Suez Canal for Syria and warn they might act.

Israeli's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman says that "Israel cannot ignore these provocations," according to ynetnews.com.

"Unfortunately, the international community is not ready to deal with Iran's repeated provocations," Lieberman said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Lieberman added that the warships was "a provocation that proves Iran's nerve and self-esteem is growing from day to day."

Iran announced plans to deploy warships near Israel and dock at a Syrian port for a year, IsraelNationalNews.com reports.

A senior Israeli official tells the site that "Israel will know how to deal with it."

Yes I agree.

Even a blind man can see where this is going to end.

Will we have the guts to send the Muslims in this country to gitmo? By virtue of their belief, they are in fact the enemy.
Sorry, but it’s true.

Israel does not have “Boomers” (SSBNs). They have SSGs with nuclear-capable Gs (guided missiles). While still formidable, there is a BIG difference.

I think you're right on point. Israel has to act. Forget Muslim Brotherhood creep, there will be open warfare if Iran/Egypt/Syria try to control the Suez Canal. Isn't this one of the things we've always worked to prevent?

Who needs nukes if you control half the world's oil supply, Hugo Chavez controls the other half, and you've got American troops cut off from supply lines? Good God.

I think if Israel sends a fleet out and says “come no closer,” ... Iran turns around and goes home.

That's funny, when did Israel get control of the Suez Canal? /s

Israel needs to be kept on a very short leash. One of these days (soon?) they will go too far with their preemptive actions and be very, very sorry.

Iran is sending warships through the Suez (after making repeated threats against Israel) and you think Israel needs "to be kept on a short leash?"

If I were in charge in Israel, I would sink them in the Red Sea prior to their entry into the canal.

Then chum the water with pig blood....
Pick up any survivors and get intel.

If the Iranians were going to scuttle ships in the Suez or use a ship to deliver a nuclear warhead to an Israeli port, they wouldn’t be using warships. Tankers or container ships could do the same job, but would be much cheaper, more easily replaced, and would attract less attention before they accomplished their mission. Iran’s warships are too valuable to be needlessly sacrificed, and the Israelis would never let an Iranian warship put in to an Israeli port.

This is more likely either a political gesture or an attempt to provoke the Israelis into attacking their ships in international waters. They also may be delivering reactor parts or some other sort of sensitive cargo to Syria, believing that a civilian freighter would be boarded and searched by the Israelis.

I think they would rather block the Gate of Tears with such a thing.

The Iranian ships will be “escorts” for the next effort to run the Gaza blockaid.

Nope, just watch. they are just going up to Syria. And then will escort the next flotilla into Gaza. Nothing else makes sense. And the canal falling into the hands of the brotherhood was the perfect opportunity to pre-position them.

Hopefully they get "pre-positioned" on the bottom of the Med.

I wore the Cross of Christ every mission and still wear it today. I was told that if shot down, it would go badly for me if the bad guys found it. Not to be dramatic but we were told that if shot down, fight like hell but if capture was imminent, use the last round on yourself. I think God would forgive. The guys who really deserve your thanks were on the ground with their M-16’s getting shot at around every corner. I had an M-60 machine gun with which to defend myself and the crew in the Blackhawk. Thanks, OIF vet

That’s certainly a strong possibility, and could be very effective if that flotilla is also loaded with Western volunteer human shields. Israel would have little choice but to sink them or let them through, especially if the civilian ships are carrying Iranian “volunteer marines” as the Iranians threatened last June. Obviously, both options would have very negative consequences for Israel.
