God willing, the democrats will stay away weeks.

By then, working parents will be ready to pulverize them.

There must be a constitutional process for a Legislator unwilling to complete their term.

“Actually they can. The 3/5ths qourum requirement ONLY applies to fiscal legislation. So they could go ahead with CCW / gun legislation and other non-fiscal laws.”

The GOP should start passing a new non fiscal law everyday and then hold a presser to make sure the Dems in hiding hear all about it. That should get them back to the state house.

I just heard on local radio, WISN, Mark Belling is reporting that one republican senator is “wavering”. I’d have to look up the name, he represents Racine.

The Republican party and the Tea Party need to start adverstising in every Democrat senator's district: put flyers on doors, direct mail, radio, tv, knock on doors--this is a war for liberty and these haters of the process need to be brought down.

We cannot allow the bastards to win.

It’s too bad the Governor can’t fire those cowardly bastards. Declare their seats open and start working on a Special Election.

The 3/5ths qourum requirement ONLY applies to fiscal legislation. So they could go ahead with CCW / gun legislation and other non-fiscal laws.

Excellent. Let's throw off some more constraints.

Or, perhaps, there is ONE single Demon-rat senator of the 14 who give a damn about their state. Probably not, but maybe one could be convinced to define their little tin god Hussein.

“Hmmmm, interesting. Pass the parts that can be passed. Let the Dems squeal.”

Yeah, if the 3/5 quorum is only for fiscal matters, separate out the collective bargaining parts from the fiscal parts and then pass those.

Keep passing non-fiscal bills like Right-to-Work, CCW, ID for voting, etc. In the mean time, the state will run out of spending authority and unless the Rats come scurrying back, then the state will have to shut down ‘til they do.

Anyone find it a coincidence that all the dems bolted for Chicago?
I would love to see exactly were they are staying and whose footing the hotel bills/living expenses for what they are claiming could be weeks.

Can you believe this horsesh*t?

As a group of Wisconsin Democrats camp outside their state in hopes of stalling an anti-public union bill, veterans of such high-stake showdowns see numerous challenges ahead. The media coverage will be suffocating; the urge to cut a deal will be compelling; the lack of sex will be, well, unsettling. Seriously.

"If you are going to be out more than two weeks call your spouse for conjugal visits," explained Texas Democrat Leticia Van de Putte, who, back in 2003, was one of 11 state senators who fled to New Mexico in order to stall Republican redistricting plans. "After two weeks -- and most of my colleagues are men -- I said get their wives here and quick because you are under intense stress."

She's not joking. Among the many trying elements that come with a "quorum break," the disruption to a lawmaker's personal life ranks highest. In interviews with The Huffington Post, several legislators and a top staffer who went through the Texas saga called it, easily, the most exhausting of their careers.

They can't. No quorum.

They don't have a quorum to pass fiscal legislation, such as budget related items. They do have quorum (50%+1) to pass all other legislation.

Very interesting. According to that link, while they couldn't pass any fiscal bills, they could pass a bill that prohibits public sector workers from collective bargaining.

All they would have to do, then, is simply introduce a new anti-collective bargaining bill that doesn't include the provisions on increasing public employee contributions to the pension and health plan.

Good find. Thanks for posting. I hope the governor reads it and acts accordingly.
