Madison — The head of the largest state workers union said Friday that his group is willing to give in to Gov. Scott Walker's demand for concessions on their benefits if the governor gives up his bid to repeal nearly all bargaining rights for public worker unions.

No half-measures, the only thing the left understands is power. Now is the time to fix the problems without any concession to the very ones that promote the problems.

That is what I said yesterday, walk across the street to UW tell them any grad or May grad can have a teachers job. In two years they will have better teachers (more enthusiasm, not jaded or unionized) and cheaper. Let every stinking sick teacher collect 2 years unemployment and be done with it.

I saw one of the legislators on the lam earlier today claiming that the students missing school are actually learning how democracy works.

Somebody needs to tell this Marty Beil that the negotiations ended abruptly on 11/2/11.

if the governor cannot fire them (the preferred choice), then now would be a good time to change his offer, to even more to the benefit of the taxpayers. Kind of like: I offer 100, you say you want 200, my next offer 75 - that kind of negotiating for a change.

This should be Walker's counter-offer:

All they have to do is allow people with college degrees in given subjects to teach those subjects ... without having to jump through all the teacher certification hoops. It’s pretty ridiculous that a guy with a PhD in chemistry cant teach in the public schools.

Get rid of the certification requirement, replace it with a degree requirement, and watch the caliber of teachers improve.

What I would like to see.

On Monday morning Gov. Scott Walker heads to his office with two sheriffs and the State Attorney General. Gov. Walker phones Marty Beil (head of the Wisconsin Employees Union) to come on down to negotiate. As soon as Beil steps into the office the sheriffs put on the handcuffs and read him his rights while the SAG hands him the arrest warrant under RICO.

I can dream can't I?

This is how a leader deals with Leftists, from a position of Strength.

Just like Ronald Reagan did!

add : Unions are no longer permitted to contribute to political campaigns or buy ads promoting a candidate, issue, or party.

Another idea for consideration...

All across the country, but particularly in NYS, some of the youngest and most enthusiastic teachers are getting fired, because the teacher’s unions demand “seniority” be kept (last hired, first fired).

The older burned out teachers get to keep their jobs through tenure and collective bargaining, and they refuse to take salary cuts to keep the younger teachers, who make much less, on the payroll. They are totally selfish, greedy, and unconcerned about the profession of teaching, just their scheduled salary increases, benefits, and retirement pay.

Send the word out that Wisconsin is looking to hire younger qualified teachers, and watch them flock to Wisconsin to take these jobs.

If every state would do the same, we could really make some progress in education, finally. It is long past time to get rid of the NEA, a totally left-dominated union that is ruining our educational system in the USA, and doesn’t give a flying freep about our children.

No.

Break them. Completely. Otherwise WI only gets a temporary respite and this all starts again.

This after they called the Governor a dictator, compared the Wisconsin GOP legislators to Nazis, staged a phony illegal work stoppage, used taxpayers kids as props for their ginned-up phoney demonstrations, all to keep compensation packages that are much higher than those of average Wisconsin taxpayers?

That's was yesterday. It's so bitter and extreme to let past hatred ruin good tomorrows.

Never mind that all the hatred was spewed by the union reps and their minions.

LMAO!!
Yeah, so the sacrificed "concessions" can be "negotiated " right back into the contract down the road when there's a friendly rat governor and rat legislature around who would only be too delighted to raise taxes on normal, traditional American families to pay for it.

Right.

Governor Walker, tell this pantload to go play in the street.

. Let every stinking sick teacher collect 2 years unemployment and be done with it.

Fire them all, hire the new grads, and then let the fired teachers "re-certify" at their own expense. There are plenty of great teachers, let them come back with no tenure and perhaps some partial credit on their previous benefits/benefits. This will let them buy back into the only system that they can comprehend - most are probably ruined for private sector jobs - and will put them in a state of inferiority to non-jaded newbies.

Bingo, permanent change achieved. To use an evolutionary theory it would be what one would call a "punctuated equilibrium".
