They aren't quacks, they aren't expressing 1st Amendment speech, these docs are committing outright fraud.

Well, Mr. doctor guy if your “patient” has stress enough that he/she can’t go to work, then he/she has too much stress to go to a protest where that stress will escalate. duh!

My thoughts too!

Seems fraud should be coming into the picture somewhere here, but that may be something the state would have to file on.

[Madison, WI] As tens of thousands of public employees skipped work this week to attend protest rallies outside the Wisconsin State Capitol, many wondered if they would face any disciplinary action for unexcused absences.

On Saturday, a group of men and women in lab coats purporting to be doctors were handing out medical excuse notes, without examining the ‘patients.’

“I asked this doctor what he was doing and he told me they were handing out excuses to people who were feeling sick due to emotional, mental or financial distress,” said Christian Hartsock. “They never performed an exam–he asked me how I was feeling today and I said I’m from California and I’m not used to the cold, so he handed me a note.”

Another woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said they were handing out excuses like they were leaflets.

“I asked if they were handing out doctors’ excuses and a guy said yes and asked me if I needed one,” she said. “When I told them I needed one for February 16 and 17th, he wondered if I wanted to come back here for the protests next week.”

What happened next?

“I said, ‘sure,’ and I received a doctor’s note for the 16th through the 25th of February, without a medical exam.”

Someone please ask one of those fraud doctors:

If the teachers are well enough to engage in street protests, how are they not well enough to be at work?

That seems pretty obvious, but to someone who actually thinks "tax the rich" will work in Wisconsin I guess nothing is obvious.

Yes, it can’t possibly be legal or ethical to diagnose without an exam.

Absolutely disgusting behavior from so called “professionals”.

If I lived there I would file and demand a show cause hearing as to why their license should not be revoked, nothing more than voodoo medical practice.

I’m a nurse and none of the doctors I know would enable this outrage. They are vowing to retire early, move to Costa Rica or Panama and keep their kids from entering the medical field. That would leave us with doctors of this ilk. Nice. Don’t get sick. Guard your health!

In my humble medical opinion their A$$ would not be at a strike rally if they were stressed if they have stress at all it is self induced.

please note I have found out that some of the so called doctors were actually in their residency program whom can only operate as physicians under a supervising physician - notice many of the notes are signed by a physician whom also just happens to be a professor.

This will not go well for the school of medicine - these professors have put the students career in jepoardy, and the school of medicine could have its medical school status revoked, and or receive excessive fines that could put the entire UW madison school in jeopardy. can you imagine the lawsuits that will be forthcoming against the so called doctors (residents), licensed physicians, UW health and the State of Wisconsin medical Board. Plus the AMA in Chicago, Illinois.

thanks milw guy for posting the information.

Yes!

I have to wonder about all of the good people out there who are working harder than ever & scared to death of losing their jobs who get truly sick & have to get doctor’s notes.

They must be livid right now. Having to drag themselves out of a sick bed to sit around the waiting room for who knows how long, being exposed to who knows what, just to get a note confirming the obvious while these jerks get fake doctors’ notes so they can carry on in the streets at taxpayer expense.

I think all school districts should tell these teachers when they return with these notes. That they need a return to work follow up with the exact same doctor that wrote the note to begin with or they can not return. No pay until they have a return to work follow up with same doctor. Now how funny would it be that they would have to find these doctors again for one and that the doctors would have to make time for them writing a return to work note.

Since these Doctors were out on street corners givng out notes, claming they were doing a cursory exam and then giving out notes for free, what about their real patients that needed them????????????????????
If I found out my Doctor was out doing this I might, (a) want an office visit for free or (b) I might start looking for another Doctor.

Madison Schools Superintendent Daniel Nerad...said officials were aware of the doctors' note-signing station.

"We're reviewing how we go forward in cases where those types of notes are provided," he said Sunday. "I don't know yet what the conclusion will be."

They need to know what the conclusion OUGHT to be. University of Wisconsin must know about the three identified faulty members committing professional fraud and calling to question the values and ethics of its School of Medicine.

I appreciate your feeling. Upon retirement our school does not permit us to “cash” them in when we retire. By not using them I am saving the taxpayers over $60,000 in unused sick days.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!

I thought the ends justify the means.

Oh, that’s right, only if you’re a liberal.

So, this has to be ok, doesn’t it???

Scientists, now doctors. I guess there is no profession not susceptible to the blandishments of liberalism.

It’s hard to imagine any reasonable physician would consider curbside diagnostics of a person’s mental stability as legitimate medical practice.

Which tells you all you need to know about that profession, unless they start cleaning up their own act. Starting right now.
