UW Health investigates doctors who wrote sick notes for protesters

UW Health is investigating doctors who wrote medical notes last weekend excusing protesters at the Capitol from work, and the Wisconsin Medical Society has criticized their actions.

“These UW Health physicians were acting on their own and without the knowledge or approval of UW Health,” UW Health said in a statement. “These charges are very serious.”

The UW School of Medicine and Public Health and the UW Medical Foundation, the university’s doctor group, are investigating.

“The investigation will identify which UW Health physicians were involved and whether their behavior constituted violations of medical ethics or University of Wisconsin and UW Health policies and work rules,” the statement said.

“The investigation and any potential future action will follow the established procedures of the University of Wisconsin. Any future disciplinary action taken will be considered a personnel matter, and in accord with University of Wisconsin policies, will not be open to public discussion.”

The Wisconsin Medical Society, the state’s doctor group, said in a statement that it “does not condone these actions under any circumstances.”

“The physician-patient relationship is a cornerstone for providing high quality health care,” the medical society said. “Important elements of that relationship, such as conducting proper medical evaluations of patients, should not be taken lightly.”

The Wisconsin Medical Examining Board has received information about the events, the medical society said.

Dr. Lou Sanner, a family medicine physician at UW Health, told the Associated Press he was one of the doctors involved. He said wrote notes for protesters who were suffering from stress.

“Some people think it’s a nod-and-wink thing, but it’s not,” he told the Associated Press.

I would hope that somebody would behave like a reasoned mature adult.
The teachers complain that they cannot discipline a classroom. Discipline comes from enforcing the rules.

Reminds me of that commercial on drugs...

“I learned it by watching you. O.K.?”

If you are appalled about doctors signing fake doctor slips to teachers who are ILLEGALLY protesting, please call the Wisconsin Medical Society and express your concerns.

Also, did you know OUR State Capital is filled with union thugs and other leftist groups that are NOT Wisconsin citizens? These people are vandalizing OUR State buildings. They have plastered offensive signs everywhere that include awful sexual innuendos, promote violence, even threats to kill our Governor. There is garbage everywhere. They used markers in the bathrooms on the stall walls and doors. People are sleeping in the Capital. And, they are banging on drums in and outside the building attempting to disrupt and stop our legislatures from working. Guess who will have to pay for the cleanup once they leave? Wisconsin tax payers!!

If you are not happy with the situation, then I encourage you to contact the Capital police and lodge a complaint.

These doctors will not make house calls even for the very ill but they will pursue healthy people out on the street if they happen to agree with their politics. Unethical abuse of power. I think we all have the core belief that most doctors are, and should be, held to a higher ethical standard. They do after all hold lives in their hands. I think these “doctors” lowered the bar.

I hope someone is pursuing this with the malpractice insurance companies involved. Even if these doctors keep their licenses, if they can’t get insurance due to their fraud, they won’t be able to practice anywhere.

Stress??? What a joke! What about the stress for parents and business owners all over the state that has been caused by these idiots deciding they are not going to work for the last week?

The good news is that Sen. (DR.) Pam Galloway (R) is NOT going to let this get swept under the rug. AND, I’m sure there have been notes written across the state - NOT just from docs in the UW system.

If a doctor wrote me an excuse for every time I was under stress there would not be any trees left in the forest.

These people make me sick.(Could I get a medical excuse for that?)

I know Madison very well. I graduated from Madison East, source of those incredibly stupid students whose interview, Rush broadcast last week.

I know Madison very well. From a kneeling position in an old H-19 helicopter during May 1970 when the liberals and their nitwit followers tried to burn my campus and city to the ground. When they started trash fires at intersections, called the fire department, and then tried to firebomb the trucks that responded.

I know Madison, very well.

Please don’t judge the entire UW Medical System/School based on the actions of a few unethical people. It is a WORLD-CLASS hospital — one that saved my mother’s life, and many others... As most people know, there are always a few bad apples in every group. Say what you will about UW-Madison (the majority of Wisconsinites will agree), but the Medical School is STILL very good...

So what will they do about Andrew B. and the FOX News producer who both got notes. Neither of them looked/acted stressed and both were encouraged to take extra days off to return to Madison this week.

This is just more socialist BS.

By the way, you might not believe this, but back in the late 50s, Madison, Wisconsin was written up in LIFE magazine as the best city to live in in the entire USA!

Of course, that was before the liberals from the UW infiltrated the city government and imported large numbers of unemployed African-American families to load the welfare office.

Hmmm....so a couple of fake Tea-Party guys could just show up and hand out the fake notes? Then a couple of other guys could show up and pretend to be union leaders but talk about fairy-dust and Bigfoot to everybody as well? I see this as a wide-open door with alot of implications for those naive teachers. They could doped by hundreds of Tea Party folks...and never realize it.

“The investigation and any potential future action will follow the established procedures of the University of Wisconsin. Any future disciplinary action taken will be considered a personnel matter, and in accord with University of Wisconsin policies, will not be open to public discussion.”

That says it all, behind closed doors in the dark of night.

If they are willing to hide something that was seen my a vast number of people and not considered a health risk, what happens to someting that is a medical mistake and poses a health risk.

Guess we’ll never know.

You won't see even one of those phony sick notes turned in. The heat is on and they'll all magically disappear.

The doctors involved in the scam are now getting first hand experience about what stress is.

UW Health and UW Madison Medical need to do the right thing for the collective existence of the university, because of a few self seeking and self serving individuals the university health sysytem and the university’s medical school must close their doors while the investigation is going. the infarcations are illegal, fraudulent and against approproriate medical ethics. Until the appropriate agencies can properly investigate the entire UW Health System and UNiversity of Wisconsin mad Medical school should be closed. Look at the savings the State of Wisconsin can achieve millions of dollars, and yes no unemployment benefits have to be paid becuase the wrongful actions of some have taken the actions of others to immediately resolve the issue in a timely manner that will cause for the restrictions upon medical personnel whom ever attempt this stupidity. You do the crime you must do the time.

Maybe not from them but we aren't going to let them forget it even if they try to sweep it under the rug.
