Yes - wipes out the deficit.

Again, for those who think this country was so much better off in the 1900's up until WWII, are absolutely nuts.

In 2007, many here on FR said Obama would never be elected President. I'm just saying ...

I’m breathing clear air here and I never proposed going back to the 1900-1945 era. I’m saying instead that Social Security and Medicare are DOA and CAN NOT be fixed because they are PONZI operations. Jesus turned the water into wine, but I believe HE’d turn his back on these two Ponzi schemes. HOPELESS!!! It’s a waste to put any more “fix-it” money into the these two cesspools. The ONLY true solution is to gradually phase-out Social Security and Medicare FOREVER and replace this delusional crap with fiduciarily managed 401k type free-market (private) retirement plans. TANSTAAFL.

That is entirely what you are doing. Like or Not, SS and medicare has been part of this country since the Great Depression. We will go backwards in time if that happened.

When the economic disaster struck, everyone's 401K was fine, and no one lost any money. /s

There is plenty of government waste to cut, without having to completely do away with SS and medicare.

Again, I can name 50 things to remove immediately that will save immense amounts of money without doing away with SS and medicare.

I vehemently support closing all of the programs which you have previously mentioned, because they are wasteful of our good tax money.

But let’s analyze your proposal. You suggest the elimination of certain wasteful federal general fund programs and using the money “saved” to prop-up Social Security and Medicare for a few years longer. But fixing a Ponzi scheme is like trying to make perpetual motion work, because it shall never be successful.

Moreover you effectively proposed “stealing” from federal income tax payers, by making a transfer of money from the general fund to support two broke programs; which by law must be funded only by direct employment taxes.

Moreover SS-Ponzi is a scheme, of which the mathematical operating rules were and are destined to evolve over many decades.

Thus what worked for Dear Aunt Bess won’t work for the generations to come, when the tax-paying worker/ retiree ratio declines from 16:1(1950) to 3:1(2005) to 2:1(2045) or worse yet 1:1, after that. [Data from President Bush’s 2005 Social Security Speech.]

Anyone who fails to comprehend the data above is forever in delusion land for the hope of continuing the socialistic New Deal vote buying promises of FDR and his advisors.

Mr Bob.

Tell us your solution to the problem of SS and medicare in details, besides saying “do away with them” and “make them private, like a capitalist society or free market should do”.

I want to hear a detailed alternative to SS and Medicare that actually helps people, all People, regardless of income level.

BJ
I sense that you are a good concerned American.

The ultimate goal is to completely phase-out Social Security and Medicare, which are both socialistic dream works.

Phase-out could take 50 years to make the transition relatively painless, because the SSucker is so hard to pull from the mouths of elder retirees.

But pull that SSucker we must because our children and grand children shall ultimately be defrauded to pay ‘our’ retirement, which is outright theft of the highest order.

Check out the web-link on post 82 for a plan (American Fairhope Retirement) to privatize Social Security, which permits citizens over age 50 to remain on Social Security and Medicare.

Anyone who fails to comprehend the worker/ retiree ratio data is forever in delusion land with only a vain hope in their minds to save their ‘wonderful’ Social Security and Medicare.

Moreover, there are no free-lunches (TANSTAAFL). Retirement is not a guarantee under the Constitution. Primarily in a free market, Churches and charities should take care of the indigent and poor.
