listening live: they are now saying the smoke has a high level of radiation and will spread over a wide area..

If true, means primary containment breach. They stated earlier #2 may have breached.

If true, could mean either primary containment breach in #2, (They stated earlier #2 may have breached) or Spent Fuel Rod Fire in Reactor #4 (Fire reported in Damaged area of reactor building).

According to World Nuclear News:

Fire at unit 4

“Kan also confirmed a fire burning at unit 4, which, according to all official sources, had never been a safety concern since the earthquake. This reactor was closed for periodic inspections when the earthquake and tsunami hit, therefore did not undergo a rapid and sudden shutdown. It was of course violently shaken and subject to the tsunami.
Shikata said that there had been “a sign of leakage” while firefighters were at work, “but we have found out the fuel is not causing the fire.” The fire is now reported extinguished.”

Would any of our experts here answer a question I have? See the image below:

Isn't there a heat exchanger between the water from the reactor and the turbines or does water from the reactor go directly to the turbines?

Am I reading the image wrong?

Thank you in advance.
