A source close to the conservative icon emphasized that, despite comments to The Hill indicating that Romney shouldn't shoulder all the political blame for the Massachusetts healthcare plan, DeMint wouldn't endorse Romney again unless he admits the plan was mistaken.

Why don't they wait until DeMint says this for himself? Nobody else can speak for him and if DeMint doesn't want to say it himself, that means he doesn't want to commit to not supporting Romney.

I think DeMint should come out and say that he won't support Romney no matter what Romney does. How could support Romney?

The fact of the matter is that DeMint has always been in Romney's pocket, but has been hiding it well since the 2008 election, until he slipped up today.

Many here will not face that but he has consistently supported and praised Romney (as well as Jeb Bush) as potential 2012 candidates. He'll support whichever one is in the race. Simple as that.

I’m sure he won’t. I backed Romney in 08 too, seeing as we had crap and crap lite to pick from. But I will not back him in 2012.

>>>>>>Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) "would never consider" endorsing Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president again in 2012 unless Romney repudiates the health reforms he sought as governor...

What a f-ing joke! DeMint supported Willard in 2008 and that was a huge error in judgment. Besides, nothing has changed, Romney STILL supports Romneycare and shows no signs of backing down. OTOH, Romneycare is just one issue in a long list of issues DeMint should have in supporting this jackass.

What DeMint said:

“One of the reasons I endorsed Romney is his attempts to make private health insurance available at affordable prices. He set the goal that all folks in Massachusetts would have affordable health insurance. By the time it got through the Democratic state legislature, it had all these mandates on it, requirements about what kind of policies would be bought — the same thing that happened up here — instead of getting people insured, it was a government takeover. So I applaud the goal — my goal is to have every American with a private health insurance plan that they can keep throughout their lives. And so, I still admire him for taking on the task, but I think it’s important to recognize that that’s not where we want our healthcare to go. States can compete with different plans, but we shouldn’t have anything like what they did in Massachusetts at the federal level.”

Sounds fine on the surface. The only problem is that Romney should have vetoed the bill. That’s the essence of executive leadership. If it passed over his veto, so be it, but he signed the law without veto. He blew it.

He (Romney) hasn’t done it so far. What’s holding him back?

He’s still basking in the praise of Obsama.

The events of today associated with Jim DeMint, Mitt Romney, and RomneyCare are another vivid demonstration of the rising power of the citizen media.

The angle that they should all take on “Romneycare” is that it was done at the state level - perfectly Constitutional.

Not so at the federal level.

Would that be so hard?
It would probably be hard for your average “independent” to grasp the importance of the distinction.

I wonder if the Senator is also waiting for Romney to repudiate his homosexualization of state government and the public schools, his unilateral imposition of sodomite fake marriage, his banning of guns, or his creation of $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions.

As for me, I’ll take Palin or Demint or, gasp, Huckabee at this point.

Romney vs. Huckabee -- what a nightmare. If someone put a gun to my head and told me to pick one of them, I'd say shoot me.

I have a problem with that. I don’t think the goal should be private health insurance for everyone. There is no way everyone can afford private health insurance. And “We the People” certainly can’t pay for everyone to be able to afford private health insurance. Jim DeMint should know this.

When I was young, our family had no money. We were very poor but we had health care. There were certain doctors that charged reduced amounts for those unable to afford their normal fees. There were govt. run clinics for those unable to find a doctor they could afford.

Jim DeMint’s problem is that he’s been in Washington, DC so long his mind has been corrupted by the liberals into believing the govt. should be able to steal from the “We the People” in order to purchase something only people with a lot of money or very good jobs can afford.

Health insurance was never established to cover everyone. Businesses used it as a perk to get the best employees to work for them. The rich used it as a way to lower the risk of a catastrophic blow to their finances.

Health insurance should not be equated with health care. When everyone can afford health insurance, health insurance will be what ever everyone can afford — garbage. It will be no good for what it was originally intended to do. Everyone will get the same crappy health care except the rich, members of Congress, and govt. employees.
