Just announced on CNN. Sarkozy expected to speak shortly
Wow, good for France for stepping up.
Qaddafi is flat out nuts, and while I wanted something to be done, what I really wanted to see is someone aside from us finally take some responsibility. It doesn’t take a superpower to deal with Libya.
My favorite tweet of the day so far: “Good, you deal with it France. We’re busy blowing sh*t up elsewhere.”
So now it might be a rebel plane too?
It was either LAF or FLAF... I guess we’ll find out later.
FLAF has about a dozen MIG 23’s. So, yeah, could be either.
This is embarassing... The French President is ready to kill a tyrant for Liberte, Egalite et Fraternite, and the USS Enterprise steams in a circle, un used while her commander-in-chief watches basketball.
“Four arab countries in this...UAE, Qatar, Jordon, Morrocco”
Forgive me, but I have posted this video several times, can’t help it. Catchy tune in French and Mirage 2000’s terrain following in Morocco....just another refuel and they are in Libya.....frankly I have no idea why we have to send forces at all. These French pilots seem more than up for the job.
Go Sarko Go! Get that blotch on human race Gaddafi.
as another poster so eloquently put it, “Let the games begin” .... oh boy ... do I ever agree this is what is about to take place .... islamic games and America takes another knife to the throat.
That was one of the rebels own MiG-23s downed over Bengahzi.
We have trained NATO air forces for over 30 years in modern combat. This is something I know. There is no reason not to use that capability. We should definitely oversee the operations and guide them, we are the teachers BTW. (No Union involved, just dedicated whipper snappers)
I agree with the fact of over 30 years in modern combat training, and should oversee and guide, I would simple prefer iran as the target. zer0 and his minions made a mistake and said qudaffi must go, now NATO attacks Libya to help iranian backed rebels (imho) and iran's mullahs go free again along with amadinerjacket. This is the only point I am attempting to make. I simply believe the wrong side has been picked in Libya. I would have preferred America had stayed out of it. This is my opinion. No offense meant.
No offense at all. President Bambi told Muhammar to leave and then booked trips to RIO and Dublin. WE have a moron speaking for the US. NATO is more than equipped to handle this. Idiot needs to keep his mouth shut. He is purposely trying to discredit the office of the most powerful Nation in our time.
Could not agree with you more. Sigh ... on to the consequences, and regrettably there are always consequences, action <--> reaction ... sigh. I pray I am wrong, yet according to the laws of physics ... another sigh.
When you hold high office, playing by the hip doesn’t get you through. High Office means conviction and no lateral movement. Bambi is a fool.
Crap. Jenkins’ Ear was supposed to be a “little war”. So was Vietnam and the wawa ‘twixt the states (American Civil War). There’s no such thing as a “little war”.
Actually the dems have 50 million deaths with their support of abortion.
He was on the beach. He makes the picks, even women’s basketball, but does he watch? Probably satellite in Rio.
Gadhafi gives no credibility to the UN, which we here would normally agree..now we change flavor of the month. The Oil is in crisis especially with hot bed of activity all over the Middle East. Is it time to announce oil/gas production full steam ahead in the US, ANWR etc? Waits...
Where are all the protests on the Left like when Bush was in office "staying the course"?
I agree it was quite a rush to go to war with Libya. zer0 and his minions have their strike. They (zer0, his minions, the left and leftist) now have blood on their hands. I do believe the left / leftists are going to have a difficult time with blaming zer0, though no GOP is to blame this time. While I believe America should not have become involved in Libya and believe another front in this war should not have been opened in Libya, and if another front was to have been opened (as now is) iran should have been the target. Since America has begun (in Libya) though, I support our Military. zer0 and his minions (the left / leftist) can eat their poo. zer0 and his minions started this one.
Missed that point of yours. Long past time is my opinion. This may awaken a few on the left to this fact, I pray.
Can you provide more info on why you think the rebels are backed by Iran? If true, that would really suck to be helping them out.
I remember the pix of the people scrambling to try to get out with the Americans. I remember the one guy hanging from the helicopter. We left those people high and dry. And killed over 50,000 of our best and brightest of that generation to boot. Some of those died because Jane Fonda passed names and information to the N. Vietnamese, while John Kerry lied to God and everybody in front of Congress, reading a speech prepared by Bobby Kennedy's speechwriter.....the 'babykiller' speech. H3ll, the guy took a videorecorder of the 1960s to the jungle. What did he know of anything but photo ops?
And they have smiled glibly and sucked up to us and preached their moralistic high-mindedness like the crack pimps they are ever since. May God Almighty Himself damn them all.
Pubbie staffers reading this, you listen the f* up. Gut the money, the programs, the lot of it. You bring our guys home NOW, before 0bama and the Democrats and their 'approved' wars kill them off. You are out of time and you, at least, are out of ammunition. You open up our resources, our energy, you defund the EPA NOW, dammit. We ain't gonna go over Angel Falls with you, so you scuttle this ship and get people off on whatever rocks and tree branches there are. We will not stand for another 50 or 100,000 of our best and brightest to be killed off or denied armed Blackhawks while you sit in your corner offices and panelled conference rooms. Your fancy clothes and blackmailed, grafted salaries, your Bruno Maglis and Christian Louboutins won't be worth Jack $hit....and we will not buy you a crust of bread. You do all this AND YOU DO IT NOW. These are YOUR children, too, even if you don't think much of them. We out here do, and being the rubes we are, we have extremely long memories.
zer0 has a track record, as I am certain you are well aware of. Look at the track record of zer0, and ask yourself a second question. Who has zer0 supported (by not attacking) in the past? My answer is iran. Is yours?
I don’t disagree with you. I love green glass. Hajji should glow in the dark. And they’d leave us alone.
We can do this easily. VERY easily. And ME people won’t mess with us because what they look for is who has the WILL. He who wills, wins.
Obama isn't "WE".
okay I’ll go one step further ... Win It or Get Out. The course to Win is Clear ... imho ... If We Walk, We Will Have To Fight Somewhere Else. So do all the typing you wish ... I am through!
Fox reported on their evening show (6pm Central) that it was a khadaffi plane, and the shoodown led to a celebration among the rebels.
The Rebel Military Council admitted that it was one of their own. The media were recording celebrations by people in Benghazi thinking that it was a Gaddafi MiG. They are not having much luck with their captured air assets. The Rebels lost a MiG-21 on the 17th and now this MiG-23.
Who’s flying these jets? Active duty fighter jocks who came over to their side? Reservists from the east? Civilian pilots?
Even if they’re real fighter jocks, I can see them getting beat up pretty badly. No ground control support to speak of, outnumbered, probably not even a wingman available...Amazing what men will do for freedom.
I’ve no idea who is flying them? Probably pilots who defected from the Gadaffi side? I agree it is amazing what people will do for their cause.
