Op-Ed: Obama Hiding True Motives for War From American People
Fox Nation ^ | March 22, 2011 | Stanley Kurtz

Posted on 03/25/2011 5:29:07 AM PDT by opentalk

Obama doesn’t tell you what he’s thinking. He keeps his motives to himself. Cherished long-term ideological goals are advanced as pragmatic fixes to concrete problems in the present. Now we’re seeing the familiar domestic pattern in foreign policy as well.

Few Americans realize that Obama has had a longstanding interest in multilateral efforts to combat war crimes and genocide. Obama would like to see a more constraining international legal regime on war crimes, even at the cost of national sovereignty, not to mention the blood and treasure of the countries doing the enforcing. In general, Obama has said little about his larger foreign policy goals.

...In 2005, Obama contacted Power after reading her book on genocide. There followed a long conversation, after which Power left Harvard to work for Obama, quic‘kly emerging as his senior foreign policy advisor.

...Most of the commentary on Libya has focused on the tension between Obama’s apparent desire to displaceQaddafi and his reluctance to admit to it. But the chief reason for this intervention is the one that’s staring us in the face. Obama dithered when it was simply a matter of replacing Qaddafi, yet quickly acted when slaughter in Benghazi became the issue. What Samantha Power and her supporters want is to solidify the principle of “responsibility to protect” in international law. That requires a “pure” case of intervention on humanitarian grounds. Power’s agenda would explain why Obama acted when he acted, and why the public rationale for action has not included regime change.

Yet Obama has so far been reluctant to fully explain any of this to either Congress or the American public, perhaps because he realizes that the ideological basis of his actions would not be popular if openly admitted.

We are waaay past the point where media should have started questioning Obie's motives instead of his judgment...

Mark Levin has pointed out that in the Libya war, the potus is acting within the US Constitution

but this may be the first time we’ve ever had such an incredibly flawed (and inherently dangerous) human being as a potus

I don’t ever want a President whose motives for anything require THIS kind of tortuous, elaborate and Byzantine second guessing.

It serves NO ONE if the leader of the most powerful national entity in the known universe detaches himself from the legitimate and traditionally observed practices of centuries and pursues an individual and PERSONAL agenda!!!!!!!!!

This reminds me of an old saying which I hope Mr. Obama takes to heart. I have attempted to translate it from English to Obama-Newspeak so that he and his sycophants will have a better chance of understanding its meaning.

The best I could come up with is this:

"One man's Kinetic Military Action is another man's Man-Caused Disaster"

For me, the constitutional question is separate from what I’m talkingabout here. When has a president ever launched a war from vacation, without telling the American people what we’re doing and why?

His answers have been all over the map. We’re only NOW even figuring out who it is we are defending—in part, at least, it’s Al Qaeda types.

What’s next—will Obama launch Tomahawks against our own forces in Afghanistan?

Tell me...does Mark believe him to be a constitutionally eligible "potus"? Does he believe it is constitutional that no American has "standing" to question said eligibility?

Yeah...and most everything he does....

Except for looking goofy

Exactly right. I usually listen to him on my commute home. Yesterday was the first time I actually turned him off.

Thanks to modern technology the president is never “on vacation”

the US Constitution gives obama an incredible amount of power and authority. On war, no president from Nixon to obama, from republican to democrat, has been willing to give up his power through the War Powers Act.

And in normal circumstances where we are ruled by a competent potus, this is a good thing.

the framers did institute checks and balances
but who can protect a people whose lack of virtue leads them to elect as potus person as flawed as obama (can’t even begin to catalog or diagnose from arm chairs)

“We are waaay past the point where media should have started questioning Obie’s motives instead of his judgment... “

There is no longer any doubt that Tass Light is an arm of the DNC who reports into George Soros. When looking at it more closely, turns out Hillary Clinton is Soros’ bagman with unfettered access to every criminal enterprise on the planet.

Looking at it another way, the American military has become George Soros’ personal mercenaries. Libya was a coupe and we were hired to carry out Ghaddafi’s execution.

But I digress. The American people need to destroy the MSM.

“...will Obama launch Tomahawks against our own forces in Afghanistan?”

Why use a Tomahawk when you can send a bunch of lawyers who will REALLY screw the troops?

(Boy, do I wish I was being sarcastic.....)

He is within the Constitution so far and I am really surprised at the ignorance of so many here who did not know that.

That's really the heart of it. The president is the Commander-in-Chief and he can use the military as he sees fit. The Constitution says so. What we have now, is a president who might possibly decide to nuke England because he doesn't like the queen. He could do it, and it would be within his Constitutional powers.

This has always been true, but we've never had to worry about it, because we've never had to really worry about who is in the White House. Now we do. We don't know who this guy is, but we gave him all the power in the world.

And he is using that power to support our enemies.

Not if he isn't a natural born citizen.

a side issue in this discussion

but does highlight the criticality of forcing our Congress and our USSC to act

Thankfully Trump is busting this into the open - for now - until the long knives who put obama in power come after Trump and the people he loves

Now, back to the discussion of the Libya war and the legality of the potus, any potus, to act

This goes for all leftists - they NEVER disclose their true motivations, because they know those motivations would be abhorrent to the “unwashed masses”.

It’s time we started using Proverbs 26:4-5.

For far too long, we’ve let them set the premise of the argument in all situations, then we’ve argued based on that premise. (Prov 26:4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him)

It’s high time we start dismantling, or at least not accepting, their stated premise, and state boldly what we know their goals are. (Prov 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes)

With a little luck the Qaddafis will realize Soros’ role in this and take him out before they go down.
