Libya Islamists 'seize arms, take hostages' (This is how it all started--with an Al Qaeda attack)
Middle East Online ^ | February 20, 2011 | Middle East Online

TRIPOLI - Islamist gunmen have stormed a military arms depot in Libya and a nearby port and seized numerous weapons and army vehicles after killing four soldiers, a security official said on Sunday.

The group also took several hostages, both soldiers and civilians, and is "threatening to execute them unless a siege by security forces is lifted" in Al-Baida, the official said, asking not to be named.

"This criminal gang assaulted an army weapons depot and seized 250 weapons, killed four soldiers and wounded 16 others" in the Wednesday operation in Derna, which lies east of Al-Baida and 1,300 kilometres from Tripoli.

"Army Colonel Adnan al-Nwisri joined them and provided them with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, three pieces of anti-aircraft artillery and 70 Kalashnikov" assault rifles, the source said.

Congratulations Obama! You're now fighting for Al Qaeda against a very recent ally in the GWOT.

Bush: fought against Al Qaida.
Obama: supported them.

It couldn’t really be any more clear.

Hat tip to Steve Van Doorn for the link to the story. I’ve been looking for coverage of this attack, which of course went unreported in the western LSM.

The “I’m-Not-George-Bush” strategy is readily apparent. It is, after all, what he campaigned on.

This was one of the very first things I thought about... While I hate Quadaffi, at the same time I knew that he was a declared enemy of Al-Queda.

When Obama refused to go before either congress or the American public, I couldn’t help but think that the reason was because of questions he didn’t want to crop up... “Is it possible that you (Obama)are helping Al-Queda take over the government if an oil rich North African country?”

Mrs. Palin was all for it even before Obama. I guess she was all for supporting terrorists while Obama dithered.

Take it to the Palin threads, Christie-boy. This is a GWOT thread.

So Kaddafi let hundreds of these bastards go thinking they would not attack him? He is getting soft in the head. Before Ronnie whacked him he would have killed these scum.

These is going to go so bad for the US that even the dumbassed voters might get the message. But the media will still convince them not to believe their own lying eyes.

A fight always keeps the thread alive. So let Huck say what he wants. I am a Palin guy but this was not one of her brighter calls. Not that she has to make a call in any case.

If the Muslim Brotherhood/Al Qaeda topple K'Daffy and grab control of the rich oil fields they will gain the wherewithal to finance all terror organizations in the Mideast states.

The vast area will become a schizophrenic Islamic caliphate.......and eventually Israel will be overrun and swept away by a rampaging tsunami wave like we saw in the earthquake videos.

Always follow the money. The radical Muzzies want that oil cash and the power it represents for themselves and their heathen cultish crusade in the worst way.

At least K'Daffy was siphoning off the top of the oil billions for himself, his family and his cronies.

We will pay beyond belief for Obama's agenda in this war....he wants the terrorist rebels to conquer and control.....is there any doubt about it?

just a trivia note:

The article's source is Middle East Online, and it is owned or backed at least in part by Iraqi billionaire-turned british cit Nadhmi Auchi. Auchi is one of Obama's buds along with syrian born Rezko. Kind of amusing that they are announcing the kickoff of Libya's Arab Spring.

Posted on April 23, 2008—in the midst of the US Presidential race—an article on Auchi’s Middle East Online website boasted of knocking six articles off of the Guardian and Observer websites. Bloggers began receiving Carter-Ruck letters demanding that allegedly defamatory comments be removed from their comments section. MEO displayed a sphinx-like image of Auchi. The caption: “Tracking even the search engines.”
It worked. When the November election came and went, the American public barely knew Rezko and knew Auchi even less. Obama won.

When Tony Rezko held a reception at his home for Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi on April 3, 2004, White House hopeful Barack Obama and his wife were also there, Stuart Levine testified just now at Rezko’s trial. Auchi is the man who provided Rezko a $3.5 million loan that Rezko did not disclose to the court — resulting in his January arrest.-— chicago sun times April 14, 2008
