NYT: Surprisingly, the Muslim Brotherhood appears to have seized the Egyptian revolution

You don’t say! This must come as quite a shock to certain experts who assured us that the Ikhwan was a mostly secular movement. Even some hard-nosed realists might find themselves a bit surprised at how quickly the nature of the Egyptian revolution changed after Hosni Mubarak fled:

In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals. The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes.

As the best organized and most extensive opposition movement in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood was expected to have an edge in the contest for influence. But what surprises many is its link to a military that vilified it.

And it is ever thus.

And these "secular activists" will soon be lining up at the US Embassy, begging for their one-way visas before they are shot or put in jail. I say no - you guys started it, now you have to stay and finish it.

Isn’t this what NATO is promoting right now in Libya — Muslim Brotherhood over Daffy? Non-Muslims fighting to spread Islam just like in the Balkans.

Liberals face each dawn as if it were the beginning of the first day in human history. It never occurs to them that the reason past administrations left certain unesthetic leaders in power is that those guys were better than the alternative. So... great... now we got the alternative that administrations for decades have been able to avoid.

Relax. Inside every al Qaeda supporter is an American struggling to get out. Democracy will turn them into a veritable assembly of George Washingtons. Or something like that...

Neo-conservatism - the triumph of hope over experience (but only in minds of neo-conservatives - in reality, experience continues to thrash hope like a red-headed stepchild).

Within 8 years this planet will be involved in all out, open warfare with islam and those Countrys that are ruled by it.
islam is slaughtering Christians openly now all over the planet.
Christians will soon have to face the fact that islam seeks to destroy them and the Jews and WILL NEVER STOP.
Time for the CRUSADES to begin again
