Bahrain is small enough that it would be physically possible to march all the Shiite protesters on to boats and deport them to Iran.

If we’re lucky the Saudis will be able to contain this. Otherwise the Iranians will have defacto rule of Bahrain and the 5th Fleet will be looking for a new home.

Good question. North Africa was mostly a French domain during colonial times. They still are paternalistic over that region and have many residents in France from there. So the French pushed for action in Lybia and the weak follower that is Obama went along.

The Saudis (sunni) are not our friend. I want the Saudi and Shia to resume their 1400 year old war, we get the hell out of the middle east and send the muslims back. We have plenty of natural gas.

Accurate about the French. They certainly cannot be depended on to fight.

Push the Shias into the water and they can swim to Iran.

I hate to break this to you, but the Saudis have been buying influence in oir government and pulling the strings of our foreign policy in the Middle East for more than two decades.

But....but...if the Saudi's can't contain this revolt, then Iran will boot the American military post and the Saudi's will lose their built in defense structure against the very terrorists they harbor and breed as well, I guess, considering the cowards who flew into the twin towers.

I know this is a shibboleth, but what have the Saudis gotten for their money that they wouldn't otherwise have?

The big wars can’t be so easily predicted. Usually it’s something most people overlook. Everyone assumes it’s the US or Israel attacking Iran but more and more it looks like it’s going to be a Sunni-Shite Showdown. The US has the Sunni’s back big time. They made their first fast Shite friends in Iraq. The rest of the Shites line up behind Iran. Iran is in a race with the clock to develop a nuke to threaten the Sunnis with and embolden Shites in Sunni lands to rebel.

Meanwhile Sunni Saudi Arabia is showing off their shiny American Armaments in and around Bahrain. The war will start when Iran starts publicly yapping at Saudi Arabia. If Stuxnet worked, Saudi Arabia may start it up with Iran in a conventional showdown. I think Saudi Arabian army with it’s 30 some odd years of hardcore American Advisement would give Tehran the beatdown of it’s life.

It's a fact that 15 of the 19 Hijackers on 9-11 were Saudis. What a lot of people don't realize is that our retaliatory strikes on Afghanistan had a unit of B-1 bombers based out of Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. That was then. Now, the current regime wants to permit the Saudis to train their pilots at Mountain Home. What a farce.
