Libya Taps Nicaraguan as Its Envoy at the U.N.

UNITED NATIONS — A former Nicaraguan foreign minister who once called President Ronald Reagan “the butcher of my people” has been appointed to represent Libya at the United Nations after its delegate was denied a visa, the Nicaraguan government said on Wednesday.

Nicaragua said the former minister, Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, 78, an outspoken critic of the United States and a Catholic priest, would replace the Libyan diplomat Ali Abdussalam Treki, who had been unable to obtain a visa to enter the United States.

Libya’s ambassador to the United Nations, Abdurrahman Mohamed Shalgam, defected in late February after denouncing Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi during a Security Council meeting during which he pleaded for international help to save Libya from bloodshed.

The Nicaraguan government of President Daniel Ortega, a leftist who has frequently sparred with the United States and has forged close ties with Colonel Qaddafi, said it sent a letter to the United Nations secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, on Tuesday to inform him of the appointment. Before he defected, Libya’s foreign minister, Moussa Koussa, also notified Mr. Ban. But the United Nations said on Wednesday that it had not received official notice.

Your people were the Soviet supported Sandinistas and we didn’t kill enough of them.

Hell, we even missed you.

I didn’t even know you were still alive.

But remember, he was a Liberation Theologist Priest!

The Sandinistas used Liberation Theology to reach people who came from a religious society. It really was a cover though for communism.

Sound familiar?

D’Escoto is a hardcore communist and always has been. Call him “Jesuit Gone Red”. Supposed the torture and execution of freedomfighters who opposed the Ortega dicatorship.

Hope he dies a horrible death at the hands of the families of his victims.

Typo correction: “Supported the torture and execution of freedomfighters...”

I remember D’Escoto very well. He was the Jesuit traitor who was sent to the U.S. to propagandize on behalf of the Marxist Sandinista National Liberation Front. Radical American clergy such as Rev. (Rep.) Robert Drinan and others helped around the U.S.

I wrote a piece in the Washington Jewish Week back in 1978 about the ties between the PLO/PFLP and the Sandinistas, as well as the Sandinistas and Cuba. The mainstream media played it down, esp. the Wash. Post with communist sympathizer Karen DeYoung (read her coverups of the three Sandinista marxist factions), leftist-coward Jack Anderson (who hated the Somoza family), and some of the NY Times writers , Alan Riding and later Ray Bonner.

Only the Council for Inter-American Security covered the Sandinistas from both inside Nicaragua as well as from the outside. They published several good books on the “Sandinista Lobby” and its supporters - “The Revolution Lobby” is one.

Sen. Tom Harkin, John Kerry, and Chris Dodd ran interference for the reds here in Congress and down in Nicaragua. Kerry also had ties to the marxist, nut-run Christic Institute and its bunch of communists and far-left supporters. Even hired old Hanoi-line pseudo-scholar Gary Porter to do a hatchet job on the freedom-fighters. Wasted a million dollars on false charges that the “contras” were smuggling drugs to the U.S.

Turns out it was the communists in Colombia, aided by the Sandinistas and Cuba, who were doing it. Kerry conveniently left this out of his report.

Just sad for those of us who remember them to think he and Danny are back!

And now he’s tasked with defending the principle of national sovereignty against the New World Government that will settle all disputed elections and “democracy” riots with tomahawks.

"NICARAGUA!!"

"You guys sure seem to love Nicaragua except for the part where you risked your lives not to live there anymore."

--The Hammer (2008)

Best line in the movie.
