Ted Baxter is Rush’s nickname for Bill O’Reilly. This is a reference to the conceited blowhard TV anchorman played by Ted Knight on the Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s.
Alan Colmes and Monica Crowley are panelists on O’Reilly’s political segment.

I always thought that Keith Olberman was trying to do a Ted Baxter impression, and botching it badly. It was the voice that did it for me. Tried imitating Ted Baxter, but wound up doing a pretty good Les Nesmond.

BOR has always bashed Rush to give himself street cred with his lefty media friends. When Ted decided to do the ill fated radio show, he said he would bury Rush because he was so much better a communicator. Ted's radio show totally bombed to the point he was forced to quit. Rush never took this stooge seriously. That is how the Ted Baxter moniker came to light in a magazine interview Rush did. Levin also routinely laughs at Ted with his mentioning of the "Soft Core Porn" section of the FOX show he is watching in the 8 o'clock hour. BOR always finds a way to inject T&A on his show no matter the topic at some point in the hour.

That was a very good explanation of the BOR Rush feud. I increasingly find BOR difficult to watch. It’s hard to believe he went to Harvard. But then so did Obama.....never mind.
Like I tell everyone. You need to look at the show as pure comedy. My wife and I watch it during dinner for laughs. He has so many ways to inject himself into every story. It just breaks us up laughing. Tonight was a real gem with his statement that Obummer listen intently on his every word and when we expected his to smile, he was serious. We broke out in fits laughing.
Colmes drives me nuts! Seriously, I realize the admission is fuel for the adversary, but the guy’s insanity beams through the tube into my ears and eyeballs, and completely rattles my chi.
