Simon & Schuster's Revenge

By Douglas Hackleman

In 1993, thirty-three-year-old Barack Obama stiffed Poseidon Press, then an imprint of Simon & Schuster -- producing absolutely nothing for the publisher that in November 1990 had given the new graduate of Harvard Law School a $125,000 advance to write a book about race relations in America .

Eighteen years later, Simon & Schuster has achieved a modicum of revenge (intended or not) by contracting with literary and intellectual sleuth Jack Cashill to impose on Obama a little of the transparency he so disingenuously promised during the campaign of 2008. Given Obama's approach to truth, the title of Cashill's sometimes impertinent sounding imposition --Deconstructing Obama: The Life, Loves, and Letters of America 's First Postmodern President -- suggests an appropriate methodology.

In this ever so readable and informative book, Cashill has taken great pains to corral probative evidence for two interesting matters: (1) the truth about who finally wrote Dreams From My Father, the essay-cum-memoir that Random House -- providing its own advance of $40,000 -- eventually published; and (2) very reasonable questions about the paternity of the current president of the United States.

It had not occurred to Cashill in the autumn of 2008 to wonder who wrote Dreams, until a friend's query about the political significance of some passages from the book led him to purchase a copy. As one who writes for a living, who teaches writing, who has been the book doctor to the publications of others and who is the author of a recent book, Hoodwinked, about literary and intellectual fraud, Cashill has antennae finely tuned to assess the writing quality of any text he reads. Of the thousand-plus portfolios of professional writers Cashill had read " .

An Amazon review follows:
This book was not only a fun read but it also might be of historical importance. First, it was a fun read because the author wrote it like a detective novel and added lots of ironic humor. Its potential historical importance, however, is that it could well be the beginning of the unveiling of the real Obama. Obama is not the Manchurian Candidate or the Radical-Chief. He is not even a liberal in conscience — our President is nothing more than a complete counterfeit who has made a career out of the self-loathing of white liberals and the mortal fear of everyone else of being labeled a bigot for vetting a black man.

During the 2008 campaign, I watched a video of Obama talking about the constitution being a barrier to wealth redistribution. As a law school graduate, I was not alarmed by the candidate’s will to subvert the constitution (all liberals want to do this), but rather, I was alarmed by his complete lack of sophistication with constitutional law. Obama’s command of constitutional law was that of a freshman political science student — not that of a graduate from an accredited law school. His command of the law was what could be expected of someone who played the diversity card to the fullest and found it as an alternative to doing real scholarship. Any real liberal law student will tell you that the constitution is a “living document” that says whatever you want to say.

During a primary debate he complained about an employer paying less taxes than his secretary. This reflected his failure to understand profit and loss and the fact that an employer only pays taxes on the company’s profits. In the best of times, many good companies experience profits that are little or nothing. When this happens, they pay less taxes than their secretaries because they have less income than those secretaries.

Throughout the campaign, Obama appeared intelligent as long as he was following a teleprompter or a speech writer. A Capella, Obama always demonstrated that there really was nothing on the inside of the Armani. I do not believe that Obama is a writer, a lawyer, a Keynesian economist, or even a loving husband and father. He is just a pretend Wizard of Oz and this book is doing the job of Toto, opening the veil to show that it is all just a console of wheels and levers.

I’ve always considered that a person with multiple SSNs had to be a con artist. Fits Obama very well.

All I have to say about this critique is “WOW!”

I betcha if the full truth is ever known about this guy, it’ll make Rev. Wright and Bill Ayres look like pretty nice guys by comparison.

Obama will be the first US president to be sent to prison. Either that, or he will die unnaturally before judgment can be rendered.

Didn’t Hillary get a several million dollar advance for a book that sold two copies.

“to write a book about race relations in America . “

Hmm, Clintoon talked about writing such a book himself, and often claimed to be working on it. 1990’s too. Hmm, just hmm.

Never a question from the 'gallery' regarding this business deal. And of course, the rumors, pretty much proved true regarding Ayer's authorship of 'Dream's' - challenged, well before Obama's 'final' per Election - and a fact, which Ayer's now openly offers re his authorship. And STILL, this merits not so much as a MSM comment!

Still, after all these months; Obama still gets 'full' street cred for this book! As he does also for his 'self-assigned' title per 'Professor of Law' (not in a heartbeat, of course). Even Hannity and O'Reilly do not go here. Beck, OTOH. . .lol/sigh; but soon gone; though I hope not far. .

Wow. I had no idea his scamming went back that far.

It goes back much further. Somehow -- perhaps through the left-wing contacts of Obama's white grandparents -- the boy who would become Barack was tagged very early by influential leftists as a literal Manchurian Candidate. When he came of college age, he was sent off to the best ivy league schools. Someone arranged (paid for) the Harvard Law Review article that began to forge Obama's celebrity, and someone brought the article to the attention of receptive mainstream media. Someone made the connection for Obama in Chicago's far left circles and introduced him to Ayres and Dorn, among others of that crowd. Someone greased his way through an extraordinarily rapid rise in Illinois law and political circles.

The outline of all this is easy for anyone to discern from a look at Obama's resume prior to 2008. One doesn't need any special qualifications to see the outlines of the truth in his resume -- no special qualifications except an open mind, that is.

Obama-lama-ding-dong better find a bigger umbrella, because it is really starting to rain large volumes $**t down upon his head. He may have to appoint a new “$**t Czar” whose singular function is to keep it all off him.

Now I am no loyah, and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn last night, but if being given a $125,000 advance to write a book and never producing said book, is that not grand theft?

I’ve been wondering if Obama’s IN-eligibility isn’t a fall-back position if he doesn’t get a second term. We finally get a look at the BC & he isn’t natural born according to law. Even though the law will be on our side, the left will scream “racism” & the blacks & (left-wing) youth will riot throughout America’s cities. This will require a response to put down the civil disobedience & maybe end up with an attempted coup. A long shot, I know, but the lefties look more & more like they want a dramatic ending to our Republic.

Clinton’s memoir, Living History, was a big seller. She got an 8 million advance. The book sold over 1 million copies the first month.

Yes, reading it right now. The side-by-side comparisons are pretty hard to refute.
