Suspected illegal immigrants arrive on Singer Island; woman goes into labor

RIVIERA BEACH Eight adults and one child who came ashore on Singer Island on Friday have been turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to an agency spokeswoman.
The group includes a pregnant woman from India whose water broke and was taken to a local hospital, said Elee Erice, with the border protection office in Fort Lauderdale.
Erice said she did not have any immediate information on the pregnant woman's condition or which local hospital she was in.
