Reality to JoAnne Kloppenburg. The election is over and you lost! Do the right thing and get on with the rest of your life.
Unfortunately for the taxpayers however, defeated Supreme Court candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg is refusing to go quietly into the good night. Instead, she is insisting that taxpayers shell out over $1,000,000 for a recount which she hopes will overturn her 7316-vote defeat. Kloppenburg is blasting ahead despite the fact that no statewide recount anywhere in the last 30 years has resulted in a swing of more than 1300 votes.
By the way, Kloppenburg wants the recount done by hand instead of by machine - apparently believing that machines are unreliable! A hand recount of one and one half million ballots would, of course, substantially increase costs to the taxpayers and further delay the inevitable Prosser vIctory.
Still unclear about the entire process is why Kloppenburg felt a lead of 200 votes in an unofficial election night tally was sufficient for her to claim victory but a 7300 margin in the official results is not enough to concede defeat? Oops.
Clearly, this isn't about Kloppenburg winning any more. That ship has sailed.
Unfortunately, this election has now become about about making unsubstantiated allegations in an effort to keep the liberal base fired up as we move into a series of State Senate recall elections. It's really too bad that Kloppenburg would allow herself to be used as a tool in this regard. However, ever since she failed to distance herself from the anti-Prosser smear campaign launched by her allies, it's clear her judgement is suspect.
As to firing up the base, the Left should be careful what it wishes for. As Kloppenburg learned the hard way, firing up a base works both ways - and it's fair to say that after months of bullying and thuggish tactics by the Left, conservatives are now about as fired up as they can be.
Don't believe me? Watch what happens to Democratic State Senator Jim Holperin and perhaps Dave Hanson and Robert Wirch in the upcoming recall battles.
As for JoAnne Kloppenburg? Well, she had a chance to exit the stage gracefully - and chose not to. Disappointing, yes - surprising, no!
Recount until you win!
I didn’t know that, do you remember her name? I’d like to find her picture and post it on this thread. Thx!
“No Republican victory is inevitable while the demonrats have their paws on the ballots”.
Don’t discount the well-honed ability of the Dems to find votes in secret stashes. The outcome is not yet certain.
Cuz, the machines are run by either Blackwater or Haliburton. At least that is what I read on DU.
Scott should lay off 10 unionistas to pay for the recount! Hmmmm make it 20
She knows she has no chance in winning and has no regard for the Taxpayers footing the Million Dollar tab. She just wants the base to know she is a woman of principle.
I wonder how many Teachers could be hired using that Million bucks? Well, better to piss it away for a losing cause...
Red scarf= Commie
Flip flopper. “I lost after I won”.
I agree with you. We better wake up to their true nature before it is too late.
Look at the Washington state Governor's race in 2002 and the 2008 Minnesota Senate race. Republicans had the lead in both races until they kept finding ballots in Democratic strongholds (Seattle and Minneapolis) and when the Democrats took the lead, the counting suddenly stopped.
The Democrats will do anything to win: cheat, try to cripple the player they view to be the strongest (Palin), get votes from cemeteries if needed. The Republicans, on the other hand, are scared of getting their uniforms dirty or being called poor losers.
The difference in Wisconsin is .5%. Since the difference in the totals is less than .5%, the state is required to recount votes at the state’s request if the loser requests it.
You mean Walker, but still a very good point...
Wisconsin is REQUIRED to balance its budget, and will no doubt need to layoff some state workers to do so.
According to USA Today, Wisconsin State, city and school district workers earned an average of $50,774 in wages and benefits in 2009, about $1,800 more than in the private sector.
So take the cost of the recount and divide by 51,000 and you have the number of workers who will pay for it with their jobs.
ALL YOU WISCONSINites who lose your jobs, will you ever know if it was YOUR JOB axed due to “Kloppy’s Folly”
Ignore #31
Liberals waste one millions dollars on something stupid? When has that ever stopped them? However the number is trivial compared to the money wasted on foolish and stupid liberal schemes through the decades. That number is well into the trillions. And that’s before Obama came along.
...You mean Walker...
The Wisconsin Governor's name is Scott Walker, so you're both right! :o)
Joelle Fishman. Just Google “Kloppenburg Connecticut”.
The “sister” part appears to be speculation at this point...

No, they want to prevent Prosser from being able to sit at the bench in Aug, effectively leaving a 3-3 court.
If all that has happened in WI doesn’t show how the left can’t be trusted with our elections, laws, and finances, nothing will.
