Federal officials threatened Monday to block road money and seize control of Utah's air quality management plan because of an exemption for excessive pollution from oil refineries and other sources.
Utah officials have about 18 months to change the rule to ensure polluters are cited for a violation first, instead of the state having to investigate a breakdown and then issue a violation, said Monica Morales, the head of the air quality planning unit for the Environmental Protection Agency's Region 8 office in Denver.
The current rule "is not in compliance with the Clean Air Act," Morales said.

"As a result of the uncertainties surrounding the offshore drilling moratorium, we are actively seeking international opportunities to keep our rigs fully employed," Dickerson said. "We greatly regret the loss of U.S. jobs that will result from this rig relocation."

Since when has anything in this administration been under any authority but their own? Barriers to protect us are simply gone over, around or thru...they could care less how they do what they so as long as it accomplishes their agenda...and it’s working.
It seems, in a democratic republic, that there is something wrong with the headline. EPA th4eatens “us?” ... should “we” be threatening the EPA?
Why bother with anything as pesky and troublesome as an actual investigation. Just issue the citation, collect the fine, and deal with the investigation, maybe.
These people are beyond dangerous.
What's so bad about investigation before citation?
Let’s not omit this dandy!

EPA Rules Force Shell to Abandon Oil Drilling Plans

The Intolerable Acts or the Coercive Acts are names used to describe a series of laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 relating to Britain’s colonies in North America. The acts triggered outrage and resistance in the Thirteen Colonies that later became the United States, and were important developments in the growth of the American Revolution.
Four of the acts were issued in direct response to the Boston Tea Party of December 1773; the British Parliament hoped these punitive measures would, by making an example of Massachusetts, reverse the trend of colonial resistance to parliamentary authority that had begun with the 1765 Stamp Act. A fifth act, the Quebec Act, enlarged the boundaries of what was then the Province of Quebec and instituted reforms generally favorable to the French Catholic inhabitants of the region.
Many colonists viewed the acts as an arbitrary violation of their rights, and in 1774 they organized the First Continental Congress to coordinate a protest. As tensions escalated, the American Revolutionary War broke out the following year, eventually leading to the creation of an independent United States of America.

“EPA threatens Utah with air quality sanctions”
Threaten them back. Fascists understand three things: threats, violence and death.
“Federal officials threatened Monday to block road money and seize control of Utah’s air quality management plan”
Threaten to seize all federal receipts and condemn all federal property.
They don’t have the guts to do that.
States won’t be able to do anything like that until they themselves return to independent status.

Obambi wants his EPA to shoot first, ask questions later. At least where conservative states are concerned.
Indeed - they should arrest and detain any EPA feddie that steps foot in Utah. Hold them as an enemy combatant, because that is what they are.
Actually, the first mistake was allowing the federal government to tax the income of the citizens of Utah. I have no idea how they could get out of that, but it would be very interesting if they blocked the feds from withholding income tax.
