I AM NOT A BIRTHER! But this one is too interesting to ignore. Upon hearing all the fuss about the newly released Certificate of Live Birth, I decided to open it up in Adobe Illustrator and see just what we were given by the White House. Judge for yourself but looks to be composed by multiple elements.

The software can explain this, creating the layers.
IMHO, this is not worth pursuing.
Weird , site is down , was up a minute ago. It shows photo of the document released by WH and the same document opened in Adobe and indicates the document was created in layers and could be a fraud.
Lies, frauds, crooked house deals, cheats, political deceptions, arrogant power grabs, detours around checks and balances, under the table dealings, stonewalling etc etc etc...
And then show this supposed LFBC and warn you not to believe it.
I’ve seen this before in scanned images. The layers are created by the software.
Another clue is the layers aren’t named as a human would do.
I don’t think this means anything.
Might also be an artifact of an automated system that produced the document from a database. They may in fact be assembled from components and printed out.
To all those unfamiliar with Adobe software... layers are basically old cut and paste techniques.
Each image could have several separate images - these are layers.
It appears they cut and pasted here.

I don’t think this is from a DB because of the edge curl. A DB would likely print from a layout - clean, flat. This looks like a scan of a book page.

Someone help me out here: If this is a real photocopy, why would there be any layers at all? Wouldn’t a straightforward copy of a document be all in one layer? Don’t the multiple layers tell a story of some amount of manipulation?
Me too - linky no workee. I expect Red South’s getting mucho traffic at the moment. Might do to wait a few; I’ve ready similar comments from folks deconstructing the purported BC with Adobe Illustrator, so we’ll probably be hearing a lot more about this in the next few hours.
Likely there are several thousand sleuths poring over the document, maybe even a few genuine documents experts, so by the end of the day we’ll probably have a good idea if the BC is fake or not. It’s just a head-fake anyway. Even if Zero was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961, he is not a natural-born citizen: he was born to an underaged American woman of a father who was a British subject. Q.E.D.: not eligible to be president.

We already know this new release is just a copy of the ‘original’ COLB. Since it showed ‘all the relevant information’, so why is there need to release only parts of it?
However, whoever creats this pdf file is to blame, i.e., the current HI state registrar who issues this April 25, 2011 certificate. Maybe at the request of Obama and his WH, who knows, but you do wonder why.

I looked at the certificate. I thought both parents had to be born in America. Says Obama’s father was born in Kenya. Am I missing something here?
the date 1961 has been altered, the 1 is not the same inking device as the rest of the number. It appears to have been hand written
If it were a jpeg or tiff in a photo editing program, it would not have layers. However this is a PDF. Adobe does lots of stuff when scanning to PDF, like try to separate out type, separate out pieces, group, place on layers, etc.
I've spent a lot of time working with scanned images, cleaning up, taking off sigs, etc. This image looks like what I've seen a lot.
You can’t “open” a birth certficate in Illustrator or Photoshop or any other over-the counter-software and be able to root around in layers. So what is this nonsense?

I think that is the effect the background is going for on purpose. Kinda like how when I put images of documents in Word I like to give them the soft shadow edge to make them look like a sheet of paper in the document.

I think it depends on what was cut and pasted. If specific fields within what should be a single scan of the document entered into the software are then added as a separate layer, that is peculiar, is it not?
Now that he has released “a Birth certificate” to the public, does this open his birth records to the public? They can no longer be claimed as private information.

An Abstract is a document that has been edited. Not all information is included. It is condensed....abridged.
What I am suggesting is that they have scanned their paper records into image files and those image files are stored in a database. When they need to produce an official document, they assemble it from previously archived electronic images.
I would be somewhat surprised if the actual paper copy that was created in 1961 even exists today, only it's digital image remains. I don't know that for certain, but that is often how old records are archived.

Everyone has always known his father was born in Kenya. No one that matters seems to care.
Not "born in America" but "American citizens at the time of the child's birth". Not that it's ever been claimed that Barack Obama ("dad") was ever a citizen at all.
I am theorizing that the reason Obama kept his long form BC hidden for so long is because it shows his father was born in Kenya.
Which raises serious questions as to whether he is a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution.
That’s the idea I am going with right now. There is a reason, or reasons, why he stonewalled for so long. I am guessing his father’s non-citizenship is why.
I’m no expert, but I know enough about retouching images, specifically text manipulation. And I am not a birther...
But just through my initial examination of the pdf, it is crystal clear it has been manipulated. For example, when I zoom in using Acrobat Professional, all the text separates ( flashes) in layers. A scanned document will not do that, unless it’s OCR. Also when zoomed in, there is clear white space added around the text. Again, a scan would not add that halo effect to the type. The white space around various text is also inconsistent, meaning that on some words, there is fatter white space around the word as though someone used a 1-2px. eraser inconsistently.
This would have been produced on a typewriter. The halo effect around the type is clearly not from a typewriter.
There is something wrong with this document, folks.
The hand written date on the bottom (8-7-61) by Stanley looks very similar to the hand written date on the Nordykes birth certificate.

I checked out the PDF — in Adobe Illustrator, just as you did. You are so right: if this document is a scan or a photocopy of an original, there would not be any isolatable, multiple elements in it.
But release the document's clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator, and it turns out that most of the type, and even parts of signatures, can be moved right off the document. Clearly, this can be no scan nor photocopy!
Plus the "security paper" used for the alleged copy shows white space behind where the moved text was. As if preexisting elements had been "whited out" to accommodate new text.
This document is definitely suspicious. I strongly doubt it is what it purports to be....
Actually, it looks like a transparent forgery to me....

I just opened a text to PDF document in Adobe Illustrator. There were no layers in the original, just text processing.
In Illustator there was Layer 1 which included a layer Group comprised of a layer for each line of text, some path and clipping path layers, like we see in the Obama doc. All of this separating, grouping and layering was done by the software.
Not similar enough to warrant concern.

Remember, he was born in 1961. So there wouldn’t be the high-tech systems to print a birth certificate.
Back then, you actually used a typewriter and a blank form.

But isn’t the original document contents treated as basically a single image, and therefore a single layer? I am not an expert on it, which is why I am asking.
It's plausible to me that the stamp only had the first three digits of the year and the last digit had to be written in. It would be a way to make the stamp last longer. It had rotating sections for the month, the two digits of the day and for the year. So they could get one for the 1960's (1960-1969), or they could get one for the 20th century or some period longer than 10 years (195-199). Just a thought.
