Samaritanís Purse: The Palins Pitch In
conservatives4palin ^ | 05/03/11 | Doug Brady

Posted on 05/04/2011 4:53:59 PM PDT by unseen1

The Palins were in Alabama today helping out with disaster relief in the wake of last week’s killer tornado outbreak. Via Samaritan’s Purse:

Todd Palin, four-time winner of the Iron Dog off-road snowmobile race across Alaska, along with his wife, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, joined Samaritan’s Purse volunteers to help tornado victims in Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday.

“I came here to work hard,” Todd said. “There’s no point in being here if you’re not going to work hard.”

After getting a safety briefing and talking with volunteers, the Palins joined a crew helping homeowner J.L. Price recover from the storm. They help haul off brush and debris, and, with the rest of the team, prayed with Mr. Price.

“It feels great to be working out here,” Sarah said. “I hope more people sign up with Samaritan’s Purse so they can be blessed like I am today.”

The Price home took a direct hit from a tornado, and sustained a lot of damage.

“It’s hard to imagine anyone surviving this,” Todd said. “What a terrifying time it must have been for them. This just really gets you.”

While going through the debris, Todd found a wooden plaque bearing the Price name and nailed it to a tree, one of the few things remaining standing on the property.

This is the third time the Palins have participated in Samaritan’s Purse relief efforts.

In December, Todd, Sarah, and daughter Bristol joined Franklin Graham for a two-day visit to Haiti. They surveyed our work with cholera patients, handed out Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts to children, and visited a shelter community Samaritan’s Purse built in the aftermath of the January earthquake.

In 2009, the governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee joined Graham to hand out food parcels to families in Alaskan villages facing hunger because of a harsh winter.

“I appreciate their willingness to bring hope to people in need,” Graham said

Even though photos were taken, the Palins didn’t do this for a photo op, unlike someone who shall remain nameless, and only does things if a camera is on hand to make himself look good.

If you look at Sarah Palin, she’s certainly not dressed for a photo op.

Photo ops are pretend and pretentious.

Work gloves and a long sleeve baggy shirt are a far cry from a staged photo op.

Tell you what, you start a Thread that says “Sarah and Todd Palin went to Alabama for a Photo Op”. That way, you won't bother the folks on this thread that appreciate the Palin’s efforts to help those less fortunate.

Since you seem to think there is no sincerity in their actions, please detail all those times that they showed up for a picture and took the next stagecoach out of Dodge.

Perhaps you can start with the photo of Sarah Palin's personal hairdresser fixing her bangs in Haiti. You know, the one that looked exactly like Sarah's daughter.

That's just my take on your cheap shot, but I certainly could be wrong about your motivations.

further if you bothered to read the story posted it was released by

Samaritan’s Purse. I would imagine as a fund raising tool to raise funds to help the people of AL.

Gov Palin made no release, she did not as far as I know give any interviews except to Samaritan’s Purse.

Her energy does amaze me. In the last 5 days she has given 4 speeches in DC, CA, CO and AL. she has attended 2 high brow events in DC and got her hands dirty in AL. She has touched on the topics of pro-life in DC, government overreach, farming and local water issues in CA, gave an in depth foreign policy speech and helped raise money for the troops in Co and helped raise funds for special needs children in AL. From my understanding only one of those of those speeches was a paid event. The speech in CA. And from news reports that event allowed the college to raise almost 100,000 for scholarships for the college.

She has crisscrossed the country giving of herself and helping others and yet we still get trolls on her demeaning her for helping families in AL.

I am all for people discussing the issues supported by a particular Candidate. We can all agree to disagree, especially on this Forum.

The silly Palin bashing on FR, which is just an extension of what the Liberal Media has gotten away with, is just a ridiculous waste of time.

I have noticed that those bashing Governor Palin never put forth a viable Candidate or attack the Public Statements made by her over the past two years.

There is a lot of fertile ground for them to disagree with and criticize, but it all comes down to them accusing her of being a Media Whore seeking fame and fortune or her being too “polarizing”.

If telling the truth is polarizing, I must be one polarizing son of a bitch.

My favorite Obama photo op is him touching the glob of oil on the beach in LA after the BP Oil spill.

The later photo showing him surrounded by the Sycophant Media who took the first photo really told the story.

My philosophy is simple...call a spade a spade and measure all equally.

Case in point...uber-lefty Sean Penn spends a helluva lot more time than a few hours and a helluva lot more money than few dollars working in Haiti. We see a picture of him there and he gets dumped on for being nothing but a publicity hound.

Palin spends just a few hours and maybe some of her own money in Alabama. The pictures are posted within hours for all to see and she's a saint with the purist of motives.

I say nonsense.

Now, if we found out months later through some obscure source that she had made such a trip totally without cameras or facebook postings that would be different.

Photo-op. Drop in for a few hours...pictures taken...out again.

That my boy is the definition of a photo-op.

No matter who the subject happens to be.

And, I don't know about you but I was raised not to highlight my good deeds or seek recognition for them. But then, I'm not a celebrity.

She’s a public figure, if she goes to an event she’s going to be photographed, and the pics are going to get uploaded to Facebook. Sarah’s showing leadership by going there and showing that she cares. Our current POTUS went there last week in a shirt and tie and he had a “hearty laugh” after a guy swatted a bee on him. Sarah walks the walk and she talks the talk that’s why so many people are drawn to her.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize that there is a time limit in showing up to support a Charity. What is it, an hour, half a day, a week, a month, a year?

Obviously you have seen something in Governor Palin that makes you think she and her family are just a bunch of selfish narcissistic schemers.

I see someone who could have written a book, made a little money and lived a full life with Family and Friends without being attacked day in and day out for sharing her Beliefs.

Actions speak louder than words, and I for one am convinced that Governor Palin has a love for God and Country that is sorely missing in today's Political Class, if not a large portion of the Electorate.

If you can't tell the difference between Governor Palin and Barack Obama, there is nothing more to say.

Sean Penn shows up in Venezuela and congratulates the Dictator for stealing money from the Rich in his Country.

Sean Penn comes home and supports people who steal money from one class of Citizens to give to others, Citizens and Illegal Aliens alike.

Mr. Penn might have good intentions when he shows up to help the poor, but his belief system is in direct conflict with what he is trying to accomplish. The road is paved with good intentions, but defining those intentions is a bit tricky.

I can assure you Sean Penn doesn't motivate the Left to help the particular cause when he blows into town. He just creates and enforces their “us against them” mentality.

This is Palin's third time with Samaritan's Purse. Good to see them helping people even if it's for one or two days at a time. Good to see Samaritan's Purse getting the publicity.

I have a kid currently involved with a similar samaritan type of group.

Based on Hooverville from the Depression era.

Rush has been using it for a while, but it was something that came up in a conversation right after the One was elected.

I was talking to someone who noticed my “Antiobamunist On Board” bumper sticker and somehow Obamaville came up in the conversation. Didn't really think about it much until Rush made it part of his routine.

To 30 - I understand the point you wish to make but let's be honest - wherever Sarah Palin appears there are going to be cameras and people asking her questions. What's she supposed to do, don a Groucho Marx disguise and try to fool everyone?

You're convinced Palin did this mostly, or partly, for positive publicity for herself. Yet one thing she does, or to be more accurate, doesn't do, is publicize to whom and how much she donates to charities, Church(es), etc. If she really wanted to be thought of as 'St Sarah' she would make sure the press was told of every cent or minute of her time that was given.

She simply did a good deed here, Now, ask her where she stands on ethanol handouts, that would be a fair question.

Nice childish personal attack. The problem you have is that everything I post can be verified and has been. You don't like certain facts so you do what the rest of the palin-ite children here do...you attack.

At least ten times over the past two year you guys have called me a liar. I have always responded with this...

Prove with citations that what I post is not true and I'll leave the forum for good. Nobody has ever even tried...because when pushed to put up or shut up they shut up.

You’re the deceiver’s deceiver—deceptive about your deception. Still a liar, even if you think you’re skilled at it.

I knew this as fact when you posted to me a few weeks ago, telling me not to “send you personal freepmails” and that you didn’t want to be my “secret friend.” The only reason for your veiled deceptiveness was that you were hysterical about having no response to one of my arguments.
