A British woman has been stabbed and beheaded in Tenerife, according to reports.
The woman was reportedly attacked in a supermarket in the town of Los Cristianos on the island.
A Bulgarian man has been detained by Spanish police.
Spanish media reported that witnesses saw the man enter a Chinese supermarket at the Valdes Shopping Centre and, without saying a word, attacked the woman with a knife, cutting her head off.
Manuel Reveron, a local a councillor for citizen security said: "Apparently this gentleman without any motive or any reason, although for this there is no reasoning, entered the shop and then cut this woman's neck and took the head in his hand outside up to the sidewalk.
"Then the security guard was able to throw him on the ground and we covered the macabre (site)."

Tenerife IS a romantic name, I can remember something about a movie or some popular story/song? about this town years ago.
This was such a shocking account when I first read it, it shouted out to me. The horror!.....the hor..ror! Imagine the effect it had on the shoppers milling about.

i agree, anytime they delay details, but can come out with some minor detail (bulgarian), i suspect something...
I think the market is called Majany which if I am not mistaken is a Syrian or Iranian name?
The man was a homeless Bulgarian who according to all news here, was just released from a mental hospital. Witnesses state he was talking/mumbling to himself and the head.
No Muslim, just a sick nutcase.
And ken, Tenerife is an island. Not a resort.
