I’ll never forget the 1965 World Series. I was in 6th grade, and some of the games were played on school days. I hid a transistor radio in my clothes, and listened with an ear piece.

I thought the World Series should be declared a school holiday, so we could watch the weekday games on TV.

Ok, Twins, how about a name change at your ball yard:

“Harmon Killebrew Field at Target Park”

Pays proper tribute to the man without hurting the sponsor package. I’m guessing here that Target Corp paid a few bucks for the naming rights. Hopefully it can be done sooner rather than later.

My first baseball mitt was a “Harmon Killebrew” model.

Harmon Killebrew is everything that is “right” with baseball. My brothers and I always fought over who got to be Killebrew when we played baseball.

The Mall of America sits where Met Stadium used to be. One of the streets that border the mall is Killebrew drive.

I came along a little later, in Bloomington
Killebrew, Oliva, Carew, Tovar

Trivia:
The only part of the old Metropolitan Staduium that remains is the seat that Killebrew hit with the longest homerun there. It is located in its same spot in the present Mall of America:

I went back and reviews your posting history...

Did you really have to hijack a thread like this and use it to vent your hate of LDS? Really?

Schmuck.

Sad, but the question remains:

Baseball player/esophogeal cancer. Did Killebrew chew tobacco, or use snuff during his career on the field? If so, that fact should be known to try to educate young players.

I know a banker who has lost half his tongue and half his esophogus as a result of chewing tobacco as a teen. That question asked, my prayers are offered for a peaceful passing and comfort for those he leaves behind.

I remember a double header at the Stadium in ‘61. Mick and Rog were going for Ruth’s record and the Twins were in. It rained baseballs all day long, due to the usual suspects, including Killebrew and Allison.

Killebrew was a great ball player, and the memories I have of him are all good. God Speed, Harmon. Mick and Rog, and a whole bunch of the guys are waiting for you to take your ups.

Why don’t you guys take it to a religion thread. Show some class and tact - everyone is paying respect to a dying man and baseball legend.
