Mark Steyn: Sarah Palin a better king maker than GOP candidate
The Right Scoop ^ | May 13,2011

Posted on 05/13/2011 6:17:38 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Mark Steyn says he has a soft spot for Tim Pawlenty and believes he may be the last man standing to challenge Obama in 2012. He also says Newt won’t be President and that Trump isn’t conservative and trashes his demonization of China as the single source of all that ails us.

As for Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin, Steyn says he wouldn’t advise them to enter the field of 2012 GOP candidates. He says Sarah Palin would make a better king-maker and Huckabee should stick with his successful Fox News show.

Is Mark sure she shouldn't stay at home with her kids?

Pawlenty isn’t bad on substance, but if that was decisive Barack Obama would not be President. Palin may end up having to run.

Steyn is Canadian, so I assume that he can’t vote in the U.S., despite all of the things that he says about the U.S. and U.S. politicians. Still, I like him a lot, and he’s very funny.

He certainly missed the “Mark”.

The “kingmaker” meme is code for shut up and stay in the background....be our slave and raise money/recruits. While you’re at it, fix us a sandwich and get a beer..

“Mark Steyn says he has a soft spot for Tim Pawlenty and believes he may be the last man standing to challenge Obama in 2012.”

###

When substituting for Rush, Mark also was angrily slamming the Constitutionalists (popularly known via Leftist demeaning terminology as the “Birthers”).

So that, plus his Pawlenty fandom, and dissing of Sarah Palin makes suddenly three things I vigorously disagree with the redoubtable Steyn on.

Ah well, I’m not fully on board with everything that comes from the formidable pen of VDH either.

Which is dumb!

If Palin doesn't run, she is a NOBODY and who cares what she has to say? She's hardly on FNC and when she is, it's only for brief snippets. She's an exGovernor and a failed candidate for VEEP ( not her fault, but just saying......)..........which amounts to nothing, should she not run. And I say this being a supporter of hers.

Unlike the vast majority of others, who are/are talked about being in the GOP primaries, her closets have been emptied, we know everything about her. She needs to run now, before her time has passed!

I never did think that the Huckster would run and he shouldn't.

I agree with him. With Newt, Romney, Pawlenty and whoever all running in a pack in the high teens, whoever Plain backs wins. The smart move by one of these guys is to tap her as VP again.

I didn’t hear anger in his voice. I really like the guy. BUT, Sarah will make a better *queen*maker, IMO, fighting for her *own* Presidency. Bob

I refrain from disparaging remarks about Steyn, a mind and sensibility I stand in awe of. I do, however, hope he writes a column in full on his thoughts about Palin. Why should she be a kingmaker? Why shouldn’t she run? I truly want to know his thoughts.

/agree with Steyn. I’ve been saying this about Palin for a while now.

Let her use her political capital to continue as a pundit. When she is proved right time after time, she’ll be in a position where the democraps can’t attack her as effectively. Then, if she wisely takes a cabinet position as, say, Secretary of Energy, she’ll have even more experience and capital than before.

Everyone is too damned impatient in politics these days. Which is NOT to say that our need is not pressing, but there are others than can step up like Herman Cain who have a better shot.

Yes, I said it: Herman Cain has a better shot than Palin.

Right now I suspect the lady sees it the same way.....The looming election is a crapshoot. Can conservative and honest voters overcome the machinations of a well-organized opposition with nothing to fear if they violate electon law ? Looked at dispassionately the 2008 presidential election resulted in the dominance of an urban minority. Given that history why should the radical/progessive wing of the DNP change its tactics ? We’re already seeing incremental steps to re-inforce that result almost daily.... >PS
