SAN FRANCISCO -- In November, San Francisco voters will be asked to weigh in on what was until now a private family matter: male circumcision.
City elections officials confirmed Wednesday that an initiative that would ban the circumcision of males younger than 18 in San Francisco has received enough signatures to appear on the ballot. The practice would become a misdemeanor.

The word Bris means covenant; the word Milah, to cut. Ritual circumcision is the covenant G-d has established with the Jewish people through the commandment of circumcision.
The big government libs in SF have no authority to regulate this personal choice. What happened to the "right to privacy" that they created, or is it like all other lib creations and only applies selectively when the arbiters of political correctness decide to play that card?

Not necessarily. I have known two doctors that are adamantly against it and will counsel young parents accordingly and even more doctors that are for it and will counsel young parents accordingly, even more aggressively, which very effectively removes it from the "private family matter" arena.
Personally, I think it should be an individual decision, and since the poor kid is too young to make the decision, then, well, they'll just have to wait until he's old enough before they go removing a very sensitive portion of his anatomy.
I'm not cut. Don't want to be cut. See no reason to be cut and have never had a hygiene problem, which is the first thing most advocates throw out there. My mama and daddy taught me how to use a wash cloth and soap and none of my wives have died from cervical cancer because I wasn't circumcised, nor any of my mistresses. (All "0" of them.)
But...to each his own.
(Yes, there is a certain amount of sarcasm there, but I see no good reason to perform a circumcision on a child that has no idea as to why it was done and for which there is no good reason given.)
Practioners who perfom circumcisions claim that the pay is lousy, but the tips are great.

Next they will want to conduct inspections to make sure that boys are in compliance. There will a new public employee union, Pecker Checkers International Union. There will be plenty of job applicants.

I’m only half joking here. The gay vote is a big bloc in SF, and, male homosexuals take a major interest in anything related to the male body. A big voter turnout combined with a “gay party line” on the issue could be decisive when the voters vote.

I’m expecting the lawsuit to start the instant the law passes. Temple Emanu-El on Arguello in SF, where Dianne Feinstein worships (and lives next to), is where many wealthy SF Jews have their kids circumcised and I seriously doubt they’ll end the practice just to please the mangy secularists.

To the leftists, you have a right to privacy and “choice” in every conceivable bodily-related act until a child is born. After that... the kid fully belongs to the government.
