Jewish Donors Outraged by 'Sociopath' Obama, Says Columnist
israel national news ^ | 5/18/11 | Gil Ronen

Posted on 05/18/2011 5:19:14 PM PDT by Nachum

If senior journalist David Goldman is right, the correct word for describing the way a growing number of US Jews feel about President Barack Obama is not 'anger' but 'rage' – white-hot rage, at that, and a conviction that they have been swindled.

Goldman, Senior Editor of First Things magazine and 'Spengler' columnist for Asia Times Online, spoke last week at a convention on intellectuals and terror at Ariel University in Samaria. In his lecture, he quoted a top Jewish campaign donor who used the word 'sociopath' to describe Obama. In an interview with Israel National News, he predicted a possibly dramatic 'train wreck' for the Democrats in the November mid-term elections, with Jewish fundraising for Democrats drying up and a possibly high turnout of anti-Obama evangelical Christians.

INN: The recent McLaughlin group poll shows US Jewish support of Obama at about half its level in the 2008 election. Is this an accurate reflection of the mood among US Jews?

“I don’t believe this for a second. Most of these Jews will continue to support Obama (or whoever the Dem nominee is) no matter what.”

Concur.

“Do we have a Jewish Conservative that can run as VP??
Issa? Eric Cantor???”

Forget that - if Joe Lieberman ran for President, I don’t think even then, that they wouldn’t still vote for BHO.

It’s pathetic and scary, but like that old joke/quote - “I’d never join a club that would have me as a member”.

“i think D Issa is of Arab descent, actually.”

His ancestry is Lebanese (as is that of Brigitte Gabriel, great American and activist against radical Islam). His grandparents were immigrants. Lebanon was traditionally a Christian country until Muslims attacked, bombed and burned most of it.

Issa’s interesting - an entrepreneur and CEO (the electronics company he founded employs about 150 people). Dropped out of high school to enlist in the Army, later going to college on an ROTC scholarship.

“Issa is a Christian Arab American”

I read one bio that listed his religion as “Eastern Orthodox”, though I’m not sure what that means.

He’s definitely not Muslim, and that’s what really matters.

“and a conviction that they have been swindled.”

Well, DUH.....
Just what did they think was going to happen when they supported an unknown with a muslem background, who pals around with, and is supported by, some of the most hateful antisemitics and Israel-hating people America has to offer?

While it’s good they finally realize they got played, the damage their ignorance and stupidity has caused will take DECADES to recover from.

Liberal American Jews were the intellectuals of the Left and drove Democrat Party policy for the last 60 years.

However, in the last decade or so, they have lost touch with the evolution of the radicals on the left. The New Left is virulently anti - Semitic, hates Israel and the Jewish people in general and they are 100% supportive of Radical Islam, the destruction of Israel and creation of a new Palestinian State in place of Israel. At many US Universities, there is open talk of hatred of Jews and the need to "drive the Jews into the Sea". Even the aging Jewish leaders of the Radical Left are finally beginning to realize that the Radical world has left them behind and they are now the intended targets of the new revolution rather than the leaders of the Revolutionary Vangard, but it's too late.

Obama is the epitome of the New Left, and he has set in motion the events which will lead to a new 21st century pogrom and a disastrous war in the Middle East.

I read the article, and it (course I do not consider myself an intellectual) is about BamBamKennedy stirring up the evangelical Christian support for Israel before last November's election.

“I am not Jewish, but I don’t understand why any Jew would support him. He is an enemy of Israel pure and simple.”

The foundation of your outrage is the assumption that American Jewish people are loyal to Israel, which is a false assumption. Many, if not most, American Jewish people are not Zionist or are only weakly Zionist. After all, those with strong Zionist leanings make aliyah to Israel.

For the record, while I happen to be in Arizonia right now, I am a Sabra, born and raised Israeli whose parents happen to be USA citizens. (And so I am, too.)

“American Jews aren’t big on military service.”

That’s a lie.

Jewish Americans have served disproportionately to any other ethnic group in the military of the USA since the Revolutionary War.

LOL, show me the numbers supporting that big load of nonsense.

Take a look at post 37 while you are at it.

By the way, it isn’t necessary to jump up all panicky and accuse people of being liars for something like this.

Let us hope the results in the recent Canadian election are a harbinger of things to come. There Jewish support for the Conservative party has gone up. A lot of that support is because of Harper strongly supporting Israel and the now finally noticed anti Israel positions of the left.

“Eastern Orthodox” is the common name for the original Christian Church. We Orthodox call ourselves “the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”, but since the Patriarchate of Rome set up on its own in the 11th century and loudly calls itself “the Catholic Church” (we’ve always called them “the Latins” since they split off) we’ve needed a way of distinguishing us Catholics from “Catholics” and hit on Orthodox, which means “right believing” or more properly “right praising” in Greek (just like “Catholic” means “according to the whole” in Greek, indicating that each local church is equally The Church with every other local church.)

If you look in your New Testament, every local church mentioned, the local churches in the Acts of the Apostles, the addressees of St. Paul’s letters (including the church in Crete, where Timothy was going to be bishop), and the addressees of the Apocalypse of St. John, with the exception of Rome, is still in communion with each other, and part of the Orthodox Church.

I believe Congressman Issa is actually a member of the same Archdiocese as I am (the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America) — don’t ask about the sorry canonical state of the Orthodox Church in North America: every local church in the old world, except the Patriarchate of Alexandria, has “colonies” in America, rather than there being one local church like the canons require (hence “Greek Orthodox”, “Russian Orthodox”, . . . which Americans mistake for different denominations, even though we’re all in communion with each other). We’re trying to fix this, well some of the bishops are, including my own bishop, whose ancestors hail from a region in Syria, the Arabic name of which means “The Valley of the Christians” because the people there have been holding out against the jihad and maintaining their ancestral Christian faith since the 7th century.

As a curiosity for you, back in the ancestral lands of both Congressman Issa and my bishop, where folks speak Arabic, we Orthodox are called “Rum” meaning “Roman”, while everyone calls “Roman Catholics”, “Latin” (pronounced “Lateen” in Arabic).

I am not Jewish, but I don’t understand why any Jew would support him. He is an enemy of Israel pure and simple.

Jewish voters take for granted that they can vote for socialists, but that conservatives will still make sure nothing bad happens to Israel.

They are just now realizing that they can no longer take that for granted. We have a lot of things to take care of, and Israel has gone lower on many people's priority lists.

There is nothing panicky about calling you the liar that you are.

You’ve actually been previously given the numbers and sources on FR regarding Jewish American military service (which is why you are liar — you know better).

Given that you disregarded the figures then, I am not going to bother to find them again for you.

Rather than go so much against FR rules and make a purely personal attack, just post your data, are the Jewish military leaders quoted in post 37 lying?

It is pretty hard to respond to a hysteric poster that is just lashing out at someone.

Since you are to feebleminded to use Google, I’ll just leave you with this from Mark Twain:

“Postscript The Jew As Soldier

When I published the above article in Harper’s Monthly, I was ignorant - like the rest of the Christian world - of the fact that the Jew had a record as a soldier. I have since seen the official statistics, and I find that he furnished soldiers and high officers to the Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Mexican War. In the Civil War he was represented in the armies and navies of both the North and the South by 10 per cent. of his numerical strength - the same percentage that was furnished by the Christian populations of the two sections. This large fact means more than it seems to mean; for it means that the Jew’s patriotism was not merely level with the Christian’s, but overpassed it. When the Christian volunteer arrived in camp he got a welcome and applause, but as a rule the Jew got a snub. His company was not desired, and he was made to feel it. That he nevertheless conquered his wounded pride and sacrificed both that and his blood for his flag raises the average and quality of his patriotism above the Christian’s. His record for capacity, for fidelity, and for gallant soldiership in the field is as good as any one’s. This is true of the Jewish private soldiers and the Jewish generals alike. Major-General O. O. Howard speaks of one of his Jewish staff-officers as being “of the bravest and best”; of another - killed at Chancellorsville - as being “a true friend and a brave officer”; he highly praises two of his Jewish brigadier-generals; finally, he uses these strong words: “Intrinsically there are no more patriotic men to be found in the country than those who claim to be of Hebrew descent, and who served with me in parallel commands or more directly under my instructions.”

Fourteen Jewish Confederate and Union families contributed, between them, fifty-one soldiers to the war. Among these, a father and three sons; and another, a father and four sons.

In the above article I was not able to endorse the common reproach that the Jew is willing to feed upon a country but not to fight for it, because I did not know whether it was true or false. I supposed it to be true, but it is not allowable to endorse wandering maxims upon supposition - except when one is trying to make out a case. That slur upon the Jew cannot hold up its head in presence of the figures of the War Department. It has done its work, and done it long and faithfully, and with high approval: it ought to be pensioned off now, and retired from active service.”

Jewish Americans have served disproportionately to any other ethnic group in the military of the USA since the Revolutionary War.

The DoD survey on religious diversity in the US military has 1.09% of military servicemembers listing "Jewish" as their religious preference, versus 1.7% in the general population (Pew survey in the same table).
