LIVE THREAD! PRIME MINISTER BENJAMIN NETANYAHU AT AIPAC
AIPAC/ also CSPAN2 ^ | May, 23, 2011 | onyx

At 7:00 p.m. EDT, this photo box will turn into the live feed from the Monday banquets at AIPAC Policy Conference 2011

Monday, May 23, 2011 - 10:00am

While Washington, D.C., is increasingly consumed with bickering between Democrats and Republicans, the U.S.-Israel relationship remains the one issue that transcends the partisan divide. In a display of this bipartisan spirit, more than half of Congress will attend tonight's Gala Banquet, which will fill a room large enough to fit the Washington Monument on its side.

This year, however, for the first time ever, Hall D/E, as massive as it is, cannot fit all delegates and guests for a sit-down dinner. As a result, all student delegates will be seated in the Ballroom Banquet in Ballrooms A, B and C. Each banquet will feature live and simulcast appearances as well as unique programming. The major speakers tonight—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, House Majority Leader John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid—will appear personally in both banquet halls.

Representatives from more than 65 countries—including ambassadors from China, South Africa, Mexico, Turkey and the Netherlands—will be seated at tonight's dinner.

Senators, members of Congress, administration officials, foreign diplomats and other VIPs at the banquets will have their names read during the Roll Call, a lively Policy Conference tradition that has been a crowd favorite for many years. AIPAC National Board members Amy Friedkin and Michael Tuchin will join AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr for the Roll Call.

The Gala Banquet will be the end of a full day of Monday programming. The morning kicks off with an address by Reverend Dr. Tony Crisp. After the morning plenary, delegates will head to lobbying workshops, where they will learn from AIPAC's top experts how to make the case for Israel on Capitol Hill tomorrow.

I don't know, BUT...

There's the story of Churchill being invited to speak at a school where he had applied for admittance when a youth, only to be turned down.

There was great excitement at the prospect of the now famous statesman's oratory.

At the appointed time, after the introductions, he took the podium, and said,

"Never give up. Never give up. Never, never, ever give up."

And sat down.

What if Bibi gets up and says

"I'd like to give a shout out to the President, that is, the next President of the United States -- SARAH PALIN."

And sits down.

Cheers!

We should keep checking back. Bibi probably won’t speak until the dinner actually starts. There will be ‘warm up’ acts first.

Hopefully the cable news stations will pick it up when he starts.

AiPAC Chair of the board David Victor itnros Netanyahu 10:01 Netanyahu departs stage 10:04 Video ends evening

Now besides what appears to be a third (?) time change, they're saying that Netanyahu isn't speaking at all? If David Victor introduces him at 10:01 and Netanyahu departs the stage at 10:04, he can't be speaking, can he? How confusing!!

I guess I'll just keep it tuned to CSPAN-2 and see what happens.

Churchill, huh?

I recently took an interest in Churchill. I’m not sure why. I downloaded an e-book of some of his speeches. It’s titled “Liberalism and the Social Problem.” I anticipated it to address liberal/leftist/progressive ideology and how to deal with those problems.

Unfortunately, the introduction written by the editor of the book bothers me greatly. It describes Churchill as a raging liberal. It makes him sound like he’d be a major player in the progressive war on reality we find ourselves in today. At least, that’s how the intro read to me.

I’m still going to read the whole thing. I figure I can let Churchill speak for himself.

I wonder if AIPAC will give Bibi the same level of applause they did for Obama?

It’s full of crazy libs....so don’t be surprised if he gets some boos. They consider him ‘right wing’ and just love that Livni marxist chick running in opposition to Bibi.

It was a bit surprisinsg to see this heading on the AIPAC page:

‘Obama Praises Historic U.S.-Israel Relationship’

Was wondering if they truly heard Obamas speech a few days ago?

Sounds like they’re trying to push him out of prime time. That’s an outrage.
