Extremely interesting article. Thanks for posting!
“they pick up a can of whipped cream and spray it at each other in the town park”
Whippets is more likely.
Very interesting corner of the world. I went to a one room country school for grades 1-3; we had to close in 1949 since there were only going to be three students the next year! The teacher had only a "two-years of college" certificate, but had no trouble teaching us reading, writing and arithmetic, with lots of personal attention. I'm sorry that today's "economy of scale" world makes it harder and harder for such schools to exist.
True.. but NOT only in remote Alaska.. but in the lesser remote sections as well..
Trapping, fishing, hunting is a fact of life for many people here..
Me.. I fish..
Alaska is just not for “city people”.. that go from point A to point B.. and are happy with that.. Its so easy here to go see remote streams observe mountains.. see wildlife.. video it all.. or gather/process it.. or just wander around and explore.. and “be” free.. with exclusions..
Littering is a vile offense here.. Littering can get you a multi thousand dollar fine.. rightfully so.. The closer you get to Anchorage the more litter you see(within the city).. Must come from being cooped up in a city.. the attitude to litter..
Still the “NO TRESPASSING” signs are rare except by the citys/towns..
Interesting post! BTTT!
