Obama Administration getting ready to ditch the Food Pyramid

he Obama Administration is getting ready to ditch the Food Pyramid, a symbol of healthy eating for the last two decades.

In its place, officials are "dishing up" a simple, plate-shaped symbol, sliced into wedges for basic food groups and half-filled with fruits and vegetables.

Beside the plate is a smaller circle for dairy, suggesting a glass of low-fat milk or perhaps a yogurt cup.

The revised pyramid is part of the administration's crusade against obesity, led by first lady Michelle Obama.

Because when I’m planning my menu, I feel that the best food choices can be made only after consulting a lawyer from Chicago.

People are making snide comments, and such about this, yet no one has addressed the real sinister idea behind this. To us, it seems as something stupid and a waste of time. To the leftist, this is very important.

They are replacing something that symbolizes the past with something that signifies the change in the world order. This new symbol won’t be better, in fact it looks to be more confusing. The big thing is that it is different and it is theirs.

We moved to our new house in July 2002. We thought the neighborhood was devoid of children because we never saw any playing in the streets or riding bikes or walking to the corner store.
Then we had Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
Electricity was out for a week.
There were kids all over the place! hundreds of them!
Then the electricity was restored and they all disappeared again.............

Ditch the food pyramid? Good idea, long overdue.

Replace it with another politically-motivated “one size fits all” approach? Bad idea, no surprise at all.

The “food pyramid” was one of the biggest scams ever. It’s contributed more to diabetes, heart disease and stroke than smoking. “6-11 servings of rice, cereal, bread etc” is absolute lunacy.

The only reason the Federal Government has a say in any of this is because it is paying for some peoples healthcare.

The Federal Government should not be paying for anyone (other than the military’s) healthcare.

The reason healthcare is so expensive today is because of third party payers. There is a disconnect between the provider and the consumer.

Anything thought of as “free” gets used more than something you have to pay for. The provider has an incentive to charge more than a consumer would (or could pay) and the consumer does not care since they are not paying (directly).

Want to solve the health care problem, end all third party payers, only the consumer can pay.

Want to bring down the cost of college, end student loans, end government handouts, the consumer will have to pay their own way.

Any time you have a disconnect between the provider of service and the consumer of that service there an imbalance will occur.

Governments are seen to have unlimited amount of money and there is little incentive for the provider to keep cost low.

So we end up with a Rube Goldberg approach to medical care.

I will predict this entire house of cards will eventually collapse upon itself.

I would expect a new Republican Administration to change this change rather quickly.
