The blood drive at the state Capitol was cut short Tuesday because American Red Cross workers decided it was too loud inside the rotunda to continue.
"The noise level got pretty high," said Bobbi Snethen, a spokeswoman for the Red Cross' Badger-Hawkeye Region blood drives. "It started to compromise the privacy at the health history booth."
The Red Cross blood drive, a regular event at the Capitol, was scheduled to go from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and aimed to collect 40 units of blood. But by shortly after noon, the rotunda was so loud that workers decided they could no longer protect donors' confidentiality at the health history booth, where blood donors discuss their health with a trained Red Cross worker in order to determine whether they are eligible to donate blood.
"Pretty personal questions" are discussed there, Snethen said.
They shut down after collecting just 15 units.
From noon to about 1 p.m. on most weekdays, a group gathers on the ground floor of the Capitol rotunda to sing protest songs like "We Shall Overcome" and "Solidarity Forever." The event, known as the Solidarity Singalong, started in March and has continued over the months in an effort to prove the fight continues against Gov. Scott Walker's plan to dramatically limit collective bargaining for most public workers in the state. The governor's proposal brought tens of thousands of protesters to the Capitol for days on end in February and March. It has not yet gone into effect due to court challenges.

Interfering with a Red Cross blood drive, how special.
When we had our killer ice storm back in December 2008 (out of power for 8 days, some were for weeks) the Red Cross was nowhere to be found.
So will any donation from me in the present or future.
Pathetic, just utterly pathetic.
They could have collected blood from the protesters too. Baseball bats can open some pretty freely flowing scalp wounds.
I shudder to think of the pathogens that might be found if the protesters blood underwent analysis....
Spare us - drama queens.
You would think they were slaves or soviet gulag prisoners as opposed to spoiled, overpaid and overcompensated bureaucrats.

Honestly, the right to assemble peaceably and/or protest is NOT what we’ve been seeing in Madistan over the last six months. Not even close. It’s MOB RULE. Or a mob that’s attempting to rule, at any rate.
Time for haul some of ‘em off to the pokey and let’em cool their heels behind bars for a while. Where are the ziptie-cuffs and paddy wagon?
They are disruptors. I was just watching a documentary about Disney’s good will tour to South America in 1941, paid for by FDR. Wal was facing a strike. He was willing let the union in, but the agitator refused to allow a vote. He had latched onto a minority and demaqnded that Disney deal with him without a vote. So he started this strike and as Disney was in hock, the strike threatend to shut the place down. Disney had to do the thing, and the government promised to take care of the strike. Well, the government settled it by a typical bureacratic “compromise.” Cutting the baby in half.” Walt came back to a shop in which half of the workers who remained were hacks who had little of the magic that had produced Snow White. Imagine the government trying to decide who should work at Pixar!

I was thinking the same thing! The ARC workers would have to don Tyvek suits and masks with face shields before commencing to swatting them with their Louisville Sluggers!
And since the Hep B and C virus can live on surfaces like countertops for up to a week or even more, unlike HIV, which only lives a few hours, the entire place place would have to be decontaminated!
Not the Red Cross per se, but nurses, phlebotomists and lab techs who work for them can be, but through their own separate professions.
Hope they’re proud of themselves for disrupting a blood drive! And that enough people see this for what it is - politics by mob rule.
