Whether or not you're as obsessed with comics as we are, you need to be paying attention. DC Comics is about to unleash one of the most important and disruptive events in all of pop culture.
Starting this August, every superhero title under the DC Comics label is experiencing a reboot. Not just any reboot -- those happen all of the time. This is a serious reboot. Every single hero book is going to start again at issue #1. That means FIFTY-TWO books will experience a near-simultaneous relaunch. And yes -- everybody's getting a new costume.

They’ll all be dressed in politically-correct, gender-neutral, environmentally-friendly, bio-degradable, organically-based, non-aggressive spandex from non-animal or fossil sources in soothing rainbow hues.
And they’ll only “reason” with their opponents, who will all be greedy capitalists wearing leather and reeking of steak dinners.
They can do whatever they want....but I suspect they just lost forty percent of their dedicated readers.
The new Batman? I’m guessing he’ll be some kid who grew up a greedy situation where his Wall Street banker dad screwed over various people and after some crazed Alaskan kills his dad...Batman goes off to rob from the rich and give to the poor. Robin ends up being the guy who encourages Batman to hang out at leather bars and discover his inner self.
The headline stopped me in my tracks- I thought the Federal government was defaulting on its debt.
Brilliant marketing, and so simple. I love it to death.

fabulous man will be whisking around the city with louie lane while nambla man and the boy toy ‘patrol’ the streets (and underpasses) of gotham. purple latern and superior woman will hold down the fort while the flasher helps track down the evil TEA party members... YT and the evil Jesus gang

I’ve given up trying to find an explanation for the crazy infecting the comics industry. One of Marvel’s titles reached issue #600 so some marketing genius thought it’d be super-cool to jump all of the titles up to #600. It’s getting more impossible to organize these things every month.
Most of the DC characters have always been politically correct and kinda gay.

What gets me is the promo poster for Justice League #1 has no Martian Manhunter. The Justice League without the Jolly Green Buddha? I’m not optimistic.
Although, they are putting Cyborg in the JLA, which is pretty cool.
Oh, and one last thing...DC, if you’re going to remake your continuity again, leave it for awhile, ok? Between the crises, Man of Steel, Year One, Zero Hour, etc., etc. it’s every bit as snarled as it was when you first tried to address the problem in the ‘80s.
