Excerpts from the new Inspector Dan Rather mystery

Secrets are funny things. The harder you try to keep them under wraps, the harder they spring up in the most embarrassing places. And in my line of business, you learn that no matter how you try thinking about baseball those secrets can jump right out of their soft cotton comfort and put you on ice permanently.

My name is Rather. And I'm a dick.

Even Jon Stewart can’t resist skewering Weiner:

John Stewart's piece is really fabulous. He admits he would have no problem ridiculing Bush in the same situation which is remarkably honest and fair. Also the piece is really well written and funny as all get out. He reaches a younger audience so that's essential for a political commentator to be fair and honest.

Man, these powerful liberal bastions of power--Edwards, the head of the IMF, and now Anthony Weiner on display for their sexist treatment of women. The chickens have come home to roost indeed. I also love that Weiner's self righteous smirk has been permanently wiped from his face since he has become a laughingstock--couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

Yes, I have been learning about Professor Frick. What a great character.

I suppose there is a price to be paid for not watching television.
