SECRETARIAT - 1973 Belmont Stakes (Alternate Footage)

Secretariat was euthanized in October 1989 because of laminitis. An autopsy revealed that his heart was about two-and-a-half times as large as that of the average horse.

That says it all.

Boehner should be giving no quarter to “traitor” POTUS Obama!!!

They have to be more than half asleep, maybe hypnotized, otherwise what possible explanation could account for their total lack of any kind of discernment at all??? It really makes one gag!

Secretariat at the Belmont.

Everyone who watched that race will never forget it.

The greatest race horse ever.

Prior to the Preakness that year, a friend of mine managed to get within about 10 feet of Secretariat at Pimlico a few hours before the race. Secretariat looked right into my friend’s eyes. My friend came back to our seats and told me, “That horse knows there’s a race today and knows he’s gonna win. I’m not kidding you.”

We both bet every cent we had in our pockets on him.

Chills. I believe it. Secretariat knew. I wish I could have seen that beautiful horse in person, but I never got the chance. When I watched the movie, I watched it 6 times in a row.

It’s also interesting to note that Sham’s heart was oversized too. Weighed 18 pounds at his autopsy. Average size is 8 pounds. His trainer Frank [Pancho] Martin likely ruined Sham in the Belmont. Sham never raced again and he came in last.

Pancho was still training and racing horses as of his 83rd or 84th birthday in 2009 or 2010. I remember reading an article about it.

Secretariat was thee best ever.

You’re most welcome.

We don’t ping to every article about Governor Palin = we’d drive everyone nutz!

We try to let you all know about HER FaceBook entries, her op-ed’s, her TV and radio appearances, her major speeches, her bus tour, and the important news about her.

Thanks very much for joining her Ping List!

That would be Palin in the "In" box 24/7 at the pace she's traveling now! Ha! Imagine what it will be when she runs....though I think this tour is her warm up.

Spectacular Bid was the 2nd best horse I ever saw in person. If Ronnie Franklin hadn’t butchered the Belmont...

Oh well.

YES! He was another beautiful horse with heart!

I’ve seen several of the good ones in person: Hollywood, Santa Anita and DelMar. Best Pal was always one of my favorites. Local San Diego horse.

I will say that horses today are much better trained than “back then.” But of course they tend to show off their “pampering” at times when they are supposed to be running. I think Silver Bulletday was the best trained horse I’ve ever seen run. It was as if the horse understood there are certain fundamentals and perfectly observed them.

I am still scrutinizing the candidates and am not yet sold on any one. There is still much to learn about them, but Palin is my favorite by light years so far. The MSM has had 2 years to dig up dirt on her and can’t find anything beyond her special needs baby, her daughter’s dancing, and mild bit of rare mis-speaking.

In the meantime, everything she says both rings true and is what I think this nation needs.

My biggest laught lately is watching the establishment Republicans run circles around themselves promoting the establishment candidates like Romney and Pawlenty and Perry, while screaming that true Conservatives are unelectable. The blue-blood Country Clubbers have always truly believed that Reagan Conservatives are flat unelectable, and believed the same about Reagan.

The establishment GOP leadership is a bigger barrier to electing Conservatives than either the Democrats or their powerful MSM stoolies are.
