Erections have consequences
New York Post ^ | 6/6/11 | Editor

Let us declare with certitude the obvious: Rep. Anthony Weiner has disgraced his office, and himself, and he needs to quit.

Never mind that he went before the TV cameras yesterday, cried on cue and assumed "responsibility" for a litany of offenses to common decency -- including sending lewd messages and revealing photos to young women on Twitter, and then lying about it.

Repeatedly and egregiously.

But there is a difference between taking "responsibility" for what one has done, and accepting the full consequences of those actions -- which in Weiner's case would require his resignation.

I doubt Weiner will resign. Unless the RATS beat him up really bad.

The man is an arrogant ass with a pretty good dose of narcissism.

He is indecent. A decent man would have already resigned.

Rep. Weiner is nothing more and nothing less than a reflection of his idiot constituents. His behavior does not rise to the level of disgust exhibited by Bawney Frank and his boy brothel, Bill Clinton and his oral office or any number of other Democrat heros who have turned scandals into resume enhancements.

He would have been in a mayoral election
But he got an erection
For his cheering section
He tried a deflection
That went the wrong direction
Lacking perfection
He’s now up for inspection

This jerk is disgusting and should resign immediately, but he is arrogant enough to TRY to keep his job. The sorry slime is toast whether he knows it or not, He is a sick pervert. I hope the girl sues him for trying to throw her under the bus. He needs to go.

“Weiner’s campaign based on common-sense ideas and grassroots energy led the New York Post to say ‘Weiner represents the new persona of the Democratic party.’”

Then again, I don’t think we really want him to resign right now. I don’t recall off the top of my head what the rules would be for replacing him if he did resign, but if he does, there is a substantial risk that he would be replaced with another, untainted, democrat who would be much harder to beat in the next election.

While I would love to see Mr. Peter Tweeter gone as soon as possible, I think that the best chance for us to grab his seat is for him to stubbornly and arrogantly stick around until the next election, when both his perverted behaviour, his lying, and his unwillingness to do the right thing for his constituents and the country will be very powerful weapons against him.

I don’t think he will resign or be forced out.
As Rush would say, he just enhanced his resume within his party.
