“I raised taxes because children need roads. “ Huckabee, RNC debates 2008
Yeah, that sounds conservative to me.
Huckabee is a nanny stater, Christian socialist who loves illegals and criminals. I would never in my life vote for such a fraud who bastardizes his religion for political expediency.
The thing is that she let them talk her into complete political suicide. She MIGHT hurt Palin, but she places her future in the House in jeopardy by trying to do so. A bone-headed decision for sure.
Right said Fred!
I disagree with Thompson then, and I still do. Thompson was not so pristine and pure himself, but that’s beside the point.
Huckabee simply is not a liberal, and he is very conservative. If you watch his show on Sat nite (?), it’s like watching a baptist worship service combined with a local republican rally. Last week it was Tim Tebow about abortion and bible verses. Pat Cadell about the imploding economy. There was absolutely nothing liberal about it.
He’s not running, so it doesn’t matter, but Huck is no liberal and he is a died-in-the-wool social conservative with fiscal conservative tendencies.
Bachmann is this cycles duncan hunter.
It's very disappointing.
Nobody disputes that he’s socially conservative. As for his ‘fiscal conservative tendencies’, it’s a pity that they only seem to surface when he’s not in office, because his record in Arkansas says his ‘tendencies’ lie elsewhere.
LOL well it is not pissant.
Huckster has been a socialist on economic issues. He never met a new program or tax that he didn’t like. And he’s soft on criminals, including killers. He is a traditionalist on life issues and marriage. Bob
The above italicized quote does not appear anyplace on a bing search except back here at free republic.
That said, it is true that Huck was governor during tax increases. IIRC, it is also true that the democrats in the Arkansas legislature could over-ride his veto. Arkansas can over-ride with a simple majority. Another of the tax increases was court mandated about funding of education.
Huckabee's words: "The reason I didn't veto the bill is because there already were far more than enough votes to override the veto because a simple majority overrides any veto. Even if the bill required 75 votes to pass, 51 votes would actually override the veto. There's no point. I've only vetoed a few pieces of legislation in 10 years, most of which were because of they were unconstitutional and I had a clear reason to withhold them. "

You can’t state a fact w/o it being construed to be a “catfight”? Bachmann has NO executive experience, but plenty of life experience and would be infinitely better than the Punk. However, for me, Sarah’s successful herding of mean, low-down alley cats who didn’t want to cooperate counts for much. Prior executive experience is critical. Sarah gets my vote, and it ain’t close. Bob
A conservatice who wants to tell people how to live, how quaint. Huck says he is conservative, but he does not act that way. On many issues he is a statist and a big spender. The Cato Institue said “If you liked George W. Bush’s brand of big-spending, big-government conservatism, you’ll love Mike Huckabee.” Search their site for the artice “Huckabee: The Biggest Big-Government Conservative” Let’s not kid ourselves.
I didn't quote anyone. I copied/pasted what someone else quoted. If you have an issue, your issue is with that individual.
Read much, Pothole?
I read your post. Huckster infuriates me. Bob
Read what you wrote dipstick. If you knew your head from your rump you would have known the quote was wrong.
Eve Harrington hired her director.
Trashing Sarah Palin is no way to try to rise to the top.
Obama is supposed to be the target.
Good-bye Bachmann. I don’t vote for Rollins’ candidates.
