Drumbeat grows for Weiner to step down
The HILL ^ | 06/09/11 | Mike Lillis

The Democratic drumbeat for Rep. Anthony Weiner’s resignation is getting louder and louder, with a number of rank-and-file members joining calls for the New York Democrat to go.

In separate statements Wednesday, Democratic Reps. Niki Tsongas (Mass.), Larry Kissell (N.C.), Mike Michaud (Maine), Mike Ross (Ark.) and Joe Donnelly (Ind.) all slammed Weiner's behavior as unbefitting of a U.S. congressman.

“Enough is enough,” Donnelly, who's running against Sen. Dick Lugar (R), told The Associated Press. “It's time for Congressman Weiner to resign.’”

...

For some Democrats, the decision to go after Weiner came quickly. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), for instance, said Wednesday afternoon that Weiner's fate is "a decision he [Weiner] has to make, just like Sen. [David] Vitter had to make that decision" — a reference to the Louisiana Republican whose phone number appeared on the client list of a high-profile prostitution ring.

Just hours later, Leahy became the second Senate Democrat calling on Weiner to step aside, according to local reports. Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.) is the other.

Weiner supports the Obama agenda. He is the Democrat who always puts his skinny face in front of the cameras spouting liberal causes. I am tired of him, and want him taken out.

I'm with you! Rush pointed out yesterday that his voting record shows him to be probably the most liberal member of Congress. One-thousand percent liberal. The question is, however, would a replacement really be any better? This is not conservative territory we're talking about there in New York.

Better no, more cautions yes. Weiner was always on the attack. He lived by the motto that the squeaky wheel get the oil. And now he has discovered that the tall nail is the one that gets hammered down. And Democrats are learning that hammering your Weiner is an unpleasant experience.

I have a new theory. Weiner has hard proof that Hillary and Huma have been doing the nasty for years. That's his ace-in-the hole...why he feels he's bullet-proof. Maybe that's what he told Slick..

It makes sense..He's been a sex addict for years..she's bi...it's a convenient marriage for both..she gets preggers..then this all breaks..remember, at his presser Monday, he said that he TOLD her about this BEFORE the wedding..

The replacement may still be a liberal, but maybe a liberal who is maybe a little more shy. I hope.
Weiner was a camera hog.He was extremely liberal. I hope his replacement, most likely a Dem, is slightly more conservative. That is all we can hope for in that district.
Anyone would be better than Weiner.
This is a guy who has spent all his life in politics, and has no marketable job skills.( That is why he will not resign. Where is he going to go?)
He then sits in his power seat, and tells the rest of the country how to live.
I hope his replacement is not a professional politican ( which is wishful thinking in this day and age), and is someone who has something going on in their career besides politics.
If nothing else, Weiner is morally bankrupt. We cannot have leaders like him running this country into the ground.

The Bullet-proof Weiner. One of Slick Willies minions. I'm sure that was one of the villains in the X-Men comics. Or was that the X-Rated comics?

My prediction is that one of two things will happen: (1) he resigns before Monday (when Congress goes back into session); or (2) he pulls a Patches Kennedy maneuver and takes a lengthy leave of absence to "deal with his issues" while retaining his House seat.

I don't see how any other option can play out here. This jack@ss simply can't show his face in the House of Representatives next Monday.

I mean, who would ever shake the guy's hand, or look him straight in the face without laughing uncontrollably?

I agree with your statement about "more egregious matters going on." And Anthony Weiner is a vile, unapologetic partisan hack who is on the wrong side of those "egregious matters." So no, he's not exactly a distraction here . . . he is part of the problem.

In the 60s, there was a TV show titled, “The Naked City”. It was a cop show set in New York city. At the end of the episode, the announcer would say, “There are 8 million stories in the Naked City, this is but one of them”.

There are 535 Congressmen. 100 Senators. A “president”. We are not an the end of the story here and one of them, the Weiner story, has not yet been fully told. We see a liar, an adulterer in intent if not in fact, a cheater, a selfish, petty, vindictive, angry, ego-maniacal and ethically challenged man. We have a man who favors killing the unborn, legalizing immoral activities, a man who votes against this nation on several issues, who votes yes on bailouts and no on legislation that would help the economy. Weiner’s story, individually, is not a miniscule subject, as you say, but it is yet one more sickening chapter of failure; a failure of one in the “Naked City” of Congress, of a nation. Is it mob mentality to stop and to look at this train-wreck named Weiner? There is a lot to learn from this fiasco.
