At least two people were stabbed and hospitalized, and three others injured after a massive brawl involving dozens of people broke out in the parking lot of a McDonalds near San Jose State University.
They say it’s always darkest before the dawn, but I’ve never been able to find out where to find them and ask what they meant. If New York is enough of an instructive microcosm, the last of the tolerance romantics is forced by a rising level of chaos to face reality, and accepts that things need to be sorted out, which requires accepting hard reality, making hard decisions, and sometimes using hard methods. All the work done by those who cared about what was happening does culminate in this, like how a seedling sets its roots before sprouting its leaves, much of that growth invisible. I was being a bit unfair.
You're a cunning linguist...
A small metal pole building with a gravel floor would work. That is what my husband has. IIRC, it is about 16’x16” or so.
It was prefab and he did the work himself.
It’s hard to generalize with Hispanics, as they come from so many different countries/cultures, and often can be like night & day. Here in the northeast they certainly have gotten a lot of civil service jobs, with “bilingual education” being tailored almost exclusively to employ Hispanics as both teachers & aides on a large scale. DC has a large black population, and I don’t think those federal jobs are the type that someone else would move from 3 states away to take. The illegal alien issue certainy dogs many of them as well; when that is not an issue they generally seem fairly well aligned with whites in terms of government employment. I know several whites who knew early on that they were going to be policemen, teachers, or postal workers; the private sector didn’t attract them at all (probably because their parents had been civil servants, and it seemed like a decent living).
Hispanics that have been in the area have definitely figured out the “preferred hiring” by the government here in the northeast; many of the newcomers (mostly South Americans) are here illegally, and it will be their “anchor babies” that get those positions when they grow up (if they want them). Then again, I don’t see many government jobs opening up in the near future at any level; states, counties, and municipalities can’t afford them anymore, and the people in those jobs are in no rush to turn in their golden ticket.
Definitely bi-lingual education is a Gov't jobs jobs jobs racket for Hispanics. Many people attribute the rise of the black middle class to them getting Gov't jobs either fairly or via affirmative action. You cannot say that the Hispanic middle class is a creation of them having Gov't jobs
Nonsense; every online job posting I respond to drags me through 15 minutes before asking me: are you black, Hispanic, female, or Pacific Islander? As long as I’m asked that question, every Hispanic (or black, r woman) is suspect and deserves to be.
Let them fight for the scraps; we’re liable to fight for Mexico just the same anyway.
Viva Franco! Viva Cristo Rey!
“...asking me: are you black, Hispanic, female, or Pacific Islander?”
They could save time by just asking, are you a White male?
...more time by just saying, ‘no White males need apply’.
...still more by abbreviating it, ‘NWMNA’.
Too bad for your girlfriend...
She prefers I just speak a language she can understand.
Well put; in my town they had to open up civil service positions to Newark residents while Newark was allowed to keep its residency requirements for its positions.
What a disgrace, and it is done legally and openly.
It's not a disgrace easily forgotten, either, especially since those in favor of it have no idea how much of a disgrace it actually is, and might never learn, regardless of the multiple ways explaining it to them.
“Not any longer, if we have something to say about it.”
We don’t; neither party will address it, and the courts have supported it.
We still do; we can address it; we can form a party that does if the Republicans won’t; court decisions can be overturned - it seems to me that’s how much of this we’re suffering through came about anyway. Turnaround is fair play.
