I agree with you she did nothing wrong, they keep trying though.

I can't seem to fathom why so many Freepers think she did something wrong.

She did everything right. She stood for the best interests of her state and her constituents. That's her job!

And unlike so many of her predecessors, she was incorruptible.

By the same token, though, I have no problem with oil companies making profits, either. I gathered you did.

Not at all. When the oil companies faced off with Sarah Palin, they negotiated the best deal that THEY could.

In the end it was a win/win situation for Alaska and the oil companies.

Unfortunately it may have resulted in slightly higher prices at the pumps in the lower 48. But Palin was not elected governor of the lower 48.

At least not yet.

I apologize for mis-interpreting your comment.

OK, so you apparently agree that Gov. Palin raised taxes on corporations in Alaska — although you’re trying to spin things because it’s OK for her to raise taxes so long as it’s levied on “Big Oil”

Is Sarah Palin a conservative?

Let’s look at government spending.

According to www.usgovernmentspending.com ....

In fiscal 2008, Alaska’s operating budget (ex cap spending) totaled $8.6 billion. That was +10.3 % compared with the FY 2007 level of $7.8 billion

In fiscal 2009, Alaska’s operating budget totaled $8.9 billion (ex cap expenditures). That was +3.1 % above FY 2008

Palin took over as governor of Alaska in December 2006 and departed in late July 2009.

The Alaska fiscal year runs from July 1st of a given year through June 30th of the following year. So these are the only two fiscal years over which she had complete control.

Now, in FY 2007, she had partial control over the budget in terms of being in office for the legislative approval part of the budget. But she didn’t propose that budget due to when she took over.

In FY 2007, the $7.8 billion in operating spending was +5.4 % compared with FY 2006.

So is cutting government spending a “core conservative principle?” Or does that go in the “let’s make an exception for Gov. Palin” pile?

Do we conservatives favor cuts in government spending?
Or do we prefer increased government spending?

I prefer massive cuts in government spending, in government regulation, and in taxes at all levels of government.

— Income taxes should be one rate, no higher than 10 percent.
— Corporate tax rate should be zero
— Death tax rate should be zero
— Capital gains taxes should be abolished
— Capital loss shelters should be eliminated
— The following federal agencies should be eliminated: Education, Commerce, Housing & Urban Development, Energy. The only remnants of Energy should be the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, whose sole task would be to determine whether a given nuclear plant is operating or is constructed safely
— All federal subsidies for Corporate America should be eliminated
— The federal budget should be no higher than the FY 2007 level

Would GOP prexy nominee Sarah Palin agree to any of these proposals? Is she a conservative?
