Obama Has Challenges in Florida
Real Clear Politics ^ | June 11, 2011 | Brendan Farrington

President Barack Obama has problems in Florida that he didn't have when he won this pivotal swing state in 2008.

The economy here is worse than elsewhere. Foreclosures are high. Property values are low. And, now that he's the president, Obama could be blamed.

Voters' shifting attitudes underscore the degree to which the atmosphere has changed since his first campaign; Florida Democrats made gains in the 2008 elections with Obama on the top of the ticket, but the GOP won big across the state just two years later.

All that explains why Florida Democrats are redoubling their efforts to re-energize the rank and file - including Saturday at the state party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner - and why Obama's campaign team has been on the ground training volunteers a full 17 months before the election.

The challenges also explain why Obama, himself, has been such a frequent visitor to the Sunshine State.

Obama only won Florida over McCain by 50% to 48%. With Indiana and North Carolina off the table, he’ll have to win it this time.

I agree.

Baraq loses any 2-way matchup, guaranteed.

What worries me is the potential for a 3-way race and Baraq winning a Clintonian plurality.

I do believe the Baraqqi Coalition can pull 37% or so of the vote.

As bad as Florida’s economy is going, it’s citizens would be nuts to reelect the idiot Obama, but people do stupid things.

Not happening, unless those Liberal/Marxist/Democrats in S. Florida jam the ballot boxes again.

“Obuggery is not even going to be competitive in Florida this time.”

That is a comforting thougth. I don’t think it should be taken for granted.

Barry the Soros Puppet is cooked this time.

Gov Scott and the GOP state houses passed a series of new voter laws cleaning up/restricting voter registration , IDs, and limiting early voting.

Crist literally gave FL to the ACORN Marxist by extending voting hours and not stopping Acorn- dem party registration fraud.

Scott has stopped it all well in advance of 2012. We need to demand an investigation of Crist and his 2008 action to leave the polls open for Barry. I would like to know how much Soros paid him or was it something else ?

Has he reinstated the lifetime voting ban for felons. I thought that was a terrific law. As an aside, I didn’t know Florida real estate was that depressed. I wonder where the best bargains can be found?

Bargains in real estate all over FL. You can buy a 20 year old single family home, and I mean single family with a small plot of land, not a trailer, for $80K in Panama City. I have seen duplexes go for $40K there. zip code 32401

Bummer only just won 2008, with all the money and hopeychangy they could muster.

This is the 1-termiest 1-termer EVER.

If he wins, votes no longer count in America.

I’m glad to hear Florida will have good election laws, as written. But what about her make it up as they go Supreme Court. Has Gov. Scott done enough to prevent progressive meddling via your courts?

I’m in Orlando. Obama took Orlando in 2008. He’s not even going to be close in 2012.

Nothing should be taken for granted. Every state is a battleground, to at least some extent.

Yeah, he only won Florida by 50% to 48%. And that was in a year where he should have won by a landslide in FL, given how well Democrats did all over the country.
So...there is hope in FL. Still, can’t take it for granted.

Then I assume time shares in the same area are going for virtually nothing.

Don’t let anyone try to fool you. 2012 will be and even bigger wave election than 2012. Then we will have a chance to hand that POST Obama his own ass! Highly motivating!
