Facebook Cars For Good

The DC Chapter of Free Republic asks that you vote for the Aleethia Foundation on Wednesday, June 15. Your vote will help Aleethia to be awarded a new Toyota vehicle which will provide wheelchair accessible transportation for service members. It is a helpful, cost- effective way for Aleethia to further assist newly wounded, injured and ill service members.

The Aleethia Foundation is proud to announce that it has been selected as a finalist in the “TOYOTA 100 CARS FOR GOOD” program.
Now Aleethia needs your help for one day -- WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2011! See Aleethia's summer 2011 newsletter for details....

Newsletter

The Aleethia Foundation sponsors free, weekly Friday Night Dinners for the wounded and their families from military hospitals in Washington DC. The Dinners began in October 2003.

In the process of providing the dinners, Aleethia found some of the troops in need of small financial grants ($1,500 to $2,500) to bridge different financial situations. It then expanded its mission to provide as many of these small grants as we could.
Aleethia also found a need to do more than just the dinners, and so it started supplying other short-term recreational activities such as sightseeing drives, trips to movies, sporting events and smaller dinner situations.

The Aleethia Foundation is a small group of volunteers. There is no paid staff and no overhead.

On Wednesday, June 15,VOTE FOR The Aleethia Foundation at

When I tried to vote, my privacy settings let me know that the Toyota company was trying to access my profile and friends list. When I denied access, the Toyota page wouldn’t allow me to vote. I DESPISE companies that do things like this and felt others should be alerted to what they were trying to do.

Can I vote without being signed up to Facebook? I don’t want to sign up for Facebook in order to vote.

Ditto. I wanted to vote, and planned to vote, but I am not going to allow any corporation, and most people, to access my facebook information.

Sorry to Aleethia, but this smells.

With 100 contest cars, and a series of charities competing for each one, how massive is the data being collected?

unfortunately you have to be a user of facebook in order to vote.

The good news is that right now Aleethia has a slim lead of 38% to 31%, next highest competitor.

FReepers can open and close a Facebook account. Last December I voted regularly in a FB/Pepsi contest for a charity that was important to a family member. His charity won $100K. I have had not one follow up solicitation from participating in that challenge. I don’t ‘do’ FB games or any applications that require the host to be allowed access to my FB profile, but for Aleethia have made an exception.
