Kind of like one of my ex-coworkers who kept claiming he was a Navy SEAL. Most of us knew that he was full of it, but he kept on with these outrageous stories.

Finally his mouth landed him in big trouble with a retired master chief who was working with RIVRON One (riverine squadron) when they were training at Fort Knox (the Salt River is the only navigable waterway that goes through the middle of an impact area, so they can do live-fire to both sides during their training exercises). The chief was in picking up a couple of rolls of thermostat wire (often used to wire simulators and pop-up targets) and Jim walked up. He spotted the chief's "Retired Navy" hat and launched into this big spiel about being a SEAL and going into Panama and Kuwait and all of this other garbage.

The chief just stood there for a few minutes, but his eyes were the coldest I've ever seen on a human being, and let Jim babble on. Then he calmly stated that he was one of the SEALS who went into Panama, but he sure doesn't remember Jim as being part of the group. Jim turned pale and tried to backtrack, but the chief cut him off and told him that he'd be sorry if he ever tried to tell another story about being something he wasn't.

From your link:

Also, Androsky served in the the AF from 1999-2006, in the 41st Airlift Squadron and was discharged as an E-4.

Now I'm just disgusted. No pity whatsoever. By wearing this ridiculous get-up, he's dissing his own honourable service.

Good God ... he was a legitimate, bonafide Senior Airman! He should be proud of that fact!

Yes, you are correct. I just looked at me in some old pictures when I was in the USAF.

Thank you for the correction.

Alright, first of all, to the man who said SMSgt... no that's a MSgt insignia on his “uniform”. Second, I am a career enlisted aviator in the USAF and I wear those wings he has on his “uniform”. They are not pilot wings. Officer wings have a shield in between the wings, enlisted wings have the seal of the US surrounded by a circle in between the wings. Third, this guy is ridiculous. He looks like a kid who was in the AFJROTC (he has a lot of JROTC ribbons on his “uniform”), bought all the badges and ribbons he could find and bought the ranks. Even so, his wearing of he desert tan boots completely throws me. This kid's out of his mind. He should have been shot on the spot just for thinking he could wear desert tan boots with the blues.

Heh! Wanna hear something funny?
I went to the Tanner Gun Show last month. While wandering around and drooling, I saw someone in a police uniform -BDU style. The guy LOOKED like someone in SWAT.
Upon closer inspection, his arm patch read, “Raccoon City Police S.T.A.R.S.”

Raccoon City is a fictional city in the videogame, “Resident Evil.”

Correct. I was able to wear all of my ribbons/medals/achievements on my Army uniform when I went from USAF to Army.

About the “USAF trash”..

Yes, a person that has crossed service branches can wear prior service branch “trash”...

We were also issued desert boots during Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Nope, enlisted collar brass, Master crew member wings (enlisted) you're right on the CIB and boots. Don't forget the green beret.

Please oh please tell me this @$$wipe was never in my USAF.

Devices and badges unique to the branch...no. No CIB on a blue uniform (although I have seen them worn by etacs at Army functiona).

Ribbons...some like NDSR and theatre ribbons as well as the "pyramid of honor ribbons" i.e. purple heart, silver star

In 1978 I got my line number for E-6 at seven years and was considered a really really fast burner. I guess SAC guys got promoted way slower than ATC guys.

I have too and as I stated in my previous post it was with Army affiliated activities. The man was an ETAC and a former student of mine on TDY to Yuma Proving Ground.

I have also seen pictures recently (in Air Force magazine) of Army unit patches on USAF utility uniforms when the airmen were assigned to Army commanded units. In this case they were EOD troops.

I have not consulted AFR 35-10 in a long time.

I just see guys at like Veteran’s Day and Fourth of July, Memorial Day services and see stuff on uniforms and I ask my dad/brothers/uncle what they are and what they mean.

OK now I've done my homework.

It is no longer AFR 35-10 it is now AFI36-2903.

Regarding the wear of the CIB AFI36-2903 says :

10.5.1.1. Combat Infantry, Combat Medical and Combat Action Badge. Wear only while permanently assigned to and performing duties with sister services components. Note: Combat Infantry, Combat Medical and Combat Action badges are not authorized on ABU.
