More and more Swedish women are having 3 kids

(Translation from Swedish into English:)

Stockholm: More and more Swedish families have a third child.

"Trebarnstrenden," - The "three children trend" which has become increasingly manifest since the 1990s, was unexpected by demographers at Statistics Sweden (SCB), which lies behind the study.

- We had expected a reduction of third child births given that women become older when they have their first child, about 29 years, and therefore would have a hard time getting a third child, says Lotta Persson, demographer at Statistics Sweden who carried out the study.

Even in the early 1990s there were many who got a third child, but the economic crisis later in the decade meant that the trend was broken.

The recent financial crisis around 2008 may have influenced the current trend.

- We saw no increase in giving birth to a third child in 2009 compared to 2008, and it may have been an effect of the financial crisis, says Lotta Persson.

Education, income, country of birth and neighborhood impact are some factors that influence the propensity to have a third child.

What are the factors of greatest importance is difficult to say, according to Lotta Persson.

- It's hard to rank them, and they can also affect each other. Income definitely is important. It is among the highest income that one is inclined to have children, but even among those with the lowest incomes, she says.

Level of education often go hand in hand with income. Therefore, it is common for people with high incomes to have three children. But it is also common among low-skilled and low-income couples.

Fertility rate, a measure of how many children women give birth to, is around 2.0 in Sweden of today. Experts generally have been expecting that figure to drop to 1.8, but may have to reconsider.

"That figure may now be increased", according to Lotta Persson.

Europe is not dead. A substantial majority of the population is western, and they can still choose to save their culture . . . or they can follow Al Gore’s advice and simply die out, stop having children.

What a bunch of BS, it says at the end the birth rate today is 2.0; so the whole story is if and and/or maybes, but no real increase in birthrate.

“‘Tis a noble thing that we offer our aid. Remember, it’s “for the children.” :-)”

And we ask for nothing in return. A fine example for others are we. Americans - a giving people ;)

Does this article refer specifically to ethnic Swedes, or are non-Swedish “Swedes” included, the way rampaging Algerian “youths” - but born in France! - are “French”?
///
i think that is a brilliant question, by Tax-chick !

the time frame when the increase started, matches the increase in Muslim immigration.

perhaps there is some increase in native swedes. but, it seems to count everyone as Swedes, and if a Muslim was born there, and has 3 kids, it is not separted.
(similar to how in France, it’s actually illegal to keep rape statistics by Muslims separate.)

“Even among Swedes who were born abroad are more likely to have a third child.”

yet the overall rate is still below 2. i think it is the same as in England and France, where the high Muslim rate is masked by the low ethnic rate, and they take care NOT to report them separately...

Let loose the boss wiles of the female Swede. Fight mulitplying-muzzie fire with...the dulcet Swedish siren song: "Bounty of Beautiful Begats" LULZ. ;-)

“In the event that any Swedish lass needs any assistance...”

- Like I’ve said before on this forum, many Swedish women seem to fancy American men.

Judging by the solid and all mature impression you have made upon me, fellow Freeper, I have no doubts introducing you to lascivious women I know over here in Sweden!

Buy me a beer and together we’ll.. - Hrrm, - enjoy a pleasant time courtly entertaining female companions of my native tribe!

Sweden;

Heaven and Hell -

i read your link, and while i certainly hope for the best, there were many comments there that raised questions.

again, specific numbers are lacking. the Muslim rate might drop by 50%, from 6 to 3... etc.
Antoninus said:
“No hard data in this article at all. This sentence could mean anything. Muslim birthrates declining could mean they’ve gone from 7 children per family to 6 for all we know.
Worthless. “

...also, in polygamy, the rate for each wife tends to be lower. in England, they legally pay welfare for ALL wives now.
...and across Europe the ethnic rate is well below 2, and is MUCH higher for Muslims, even 2nd generation.
(bin Laden himself, was quoted as saying getting unmarried muslim women married (so they could have more babies) was MORE important to him, than ANY terrorism activities...

they understand demographics...

Low fertility in Europe — is there still reason to worry?

“Nowadays, 1 in 5 babies in Europe has a mother who was born abroad. “

I’m the oldest of three sisters. Three is a BAD number for siblings — two always gang up on the third.

Dunno how it happened, but I ended up with a son and a daughter, in that order. Heh, that was almost as unbalanced! ;-)

But the alliances shift constantly! I'm the oldest of three sisters too, but we also have a brother. Funny, in the 60's and 70's, four kids was a small family.

I have no hard time understanding how a bunch of three or four sisters could end up in eternal quarreling. My mother grew up in a family like that.

I reckon some families are pretty tough growing up in.

I will always look up to my grandfather. But he was indeed very, very demanding and rigid.

He worked as an executive of a major Swedish insurance company.

He didn’t exactly fancy the reports he got from teachers sent to him informing him on how his daughters behaved at school in the 1950’s.

Discipline is a good thing, but I’m proud to say I know how to control people without using physical force and violence.

School shouldn’t be about control. It should be about mutual respect.

“School shouldn’t be about control. It should be about mutual respect.”

- Schools indeed should be environments dedicated to education and learning. Furthermore, they should be loving and caring in nature.

European schools of the 1950’s were seldom like that.

When my mother or any of her sisters once in a while got a little cocky in class and spoke back to the teacher, her parents - my maternal grandparents - would soon get informed and believe me, you would not like to be in the place of these teenagers.

Later on, Grandpa’s daughters got married to military officers, engineers and splendid scholars. Men of good breed and of ambition in life.

I went to University. My grandfathers did not. I never even met my paternal Grandfather. He died at the age of 55 two years before I was born.

My uncle fought Stalin, got shot in the Winter War and then went back to the front. He didn’t wish to experience his sisters getting raped by Russian troops.

We Europeans have pretty much of a heavy rucksack, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy life. We know just how magnificent America could be like, despite the fact Hitler existed some decades ago on your soil..

“More blond, blue eyed Viking babies on the way.”

Hooray! Sweden leads the way. White people need to have more kids.

I’m very sorry I only had one, myself. It’s my biggest regret.

We’re sll best friends NOW, but at any given time growing up, I’d have paid someone to take one of them away. WHICH one varied almost daily!

WC, I would love to see a Western country turn the trend around, but I'm very skeptical Sweden will be the one to do it. No country in Europe is above replacement rate and the trend seems to be continually down.

If Sweden can buck that trend, however, my hat's off to them!
