ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A veteran Republican senator tells The Associated Press he will vote yes on gay marriage, apparently giving the measure the support it needs to become law.

Sen. Stephen Saland (suh-LAND') says he has long been undecided. He voted against a similar bill in 2009, helping kill the measure and dealing a blow to the national gay rights movement.

Homosexuals and those who support their lifestyle want to bring America down. The GOP is no better than dems. NY deserves what it already has and will get in the future.

Oh no. This is terrible news. What is wrong with these idiots??? What is wrong with them? Bribery? Blackmail? Ignorance? If every single politician barring about 5 of them were replaced with random people out of the phone book, we'd have much better quality people in gov. This is repulsive. What this means AFAIAC is that it's going to have to hit rock bottom before turning in the right direction. Really bad news.

Yep. It’s gonna pass. =(

“Republican Senator Saland throws his support to gay marriage. “I have to define doing the right as treating all persons with equality.” “I certainly am in peace with my vote.”

He’s the 32nd vote.

They can move. Why would a conservative want to live somewhere like that? Or MA? Or CA? High taxes, high cost of living, perverts running the state. Why live in a place like that?

One thing they made certain was they weren’t going to let the VOTERS decide. Just like in Massachusetts, where the legislators whooped it up after disallowing a voter initiative to go through.

Too much money involved. Gays are among the most affluent constituencies out there, especially in the NY metro area, and they spread it around.

This is what finances the so-called “Gay Mafia”.

Quite frankly, the voters in NY would pass gay marriage. This was really our only chance.

I don't know about the rest of the country but in the NY metro area this has been a non-stop story for the past 2 weeks. I don't really know how to explain this but it seems like this was all staged. From the outset I knew it was going to pass, but the media made it seem like some sort of high drama. One day the legislature was about to pass it, next thing they were getting ready to go on break, and everyone was biting their nails wondering, "will we finally get gay marriage in NY?". Personally I knew it was going to pass, so cut the drama and just pass it already! If you really wanted to know what the people think, you'd put it to a referendum, but we all know how THAT would go.

At least CT was honest about it. The court imposed it on us, and if you damned conservatives and religious people didn't like it TOUGH!

I guess if I'm going to live in a totalitarian state, I'd just prefer they be up front about it and stop making like we the people have a say.

They can move.

That's one of the dumber things that posters say. It's so easy to sell a house, uproot everyone and find jobs elsewhere because the economy is booming, right?

Or they can stay where they are and enjoy living in a state where perverts run the show. Doesn’t really matter to me.
