David Cameron's local Tory chairman found dead in Glastonbury toilet
The Telegraph ^ | June 26, 2011

David Cameron said he was "devastated" to hear of the death of Christopher Shale, his constituency chairman, who was found dead in a portable toilet at Glastonbury Festival.

In a statement, the Prime Minister said Mr Shale was a "close and valued friend" and a "big rock" in his life.

Mr Shale, 56, who was the party chairman in Mr Cameron’s Witney constituency, was found dead in a toilet in the site’s VIP area at 9am.

He was featured in an article in today's Mail on Sunday which published a memo written by Mr Shale saying there was little reason to join the Conservative party.

The festival organiser Michael Eavis spoke of his sadness over the death during a press conference later.

The 75-year-old farmer was told it was suicide - but police said it was still too early to say, while friends of Mr Shale insisted he had had a heart attack.

An EMT told me that many elderly are found dead in bathrooms. That the body slackens before death and many head for the toilet only to die there.

A portable toilet? I prefer my father’s manner of passing. He fell asleep on his own couch and never woke up.

Like my Grandpa, peacefully in his sleep, not screaming like the passengers on his bus.

I don’t believe 56 is elderly, no.

But there are all kinds of reasons people die. I knew of someone who passed away at age 48, shocking everyone as he hadn’t been ill. It turned out he had an undiagnosed case of colon cancer.

When straining on the toilet you tend to hold your breathe, hence many heart attacks occur that way. If you've noticed, in hospital bathrooms they have a an emergency pull rope because many MI’s occur in bathrooms... it's not a great way to go.

My eldest son and his fiance are at Glastonbury at the moment - hope they don’t come home with fleas.

“An EMT told me that many elderly are found dead in bathrooms.”

Elderly? He was 56.
I believe a more common reason for people to die on the toilet, is due straining.

Because Cameron is a politician, this has a “don’t get caught with a dead girl or live boy in your bed” feeling about it. Yechh...
